That sounds exactly like the noises he was making before he nearly went to chelsea, sounds ominous to me.

I sense it too... and that's the thing i dont' like about this interview... he has every right to criticize and give some wake up call to the players...but at the end of the day he's the captain and he was also guilty of underperforming for stretches of games this season... where is the comment of taking the captain's responsibility and criticizing himself as well? saying something like "we all have underpeformed... including me"... right now the words like "i'm fed up...", "I'm tired of", "even if we finish fourth" or " even if we win THAT trophy"... sounds just too negative for me... and it shows in his body language on the field as well...

just to add on a bit... i think captains should be steady and firm and not show too much emotions as to destabilise the squad... look at the way Gallas acted in the Birmingham game... when the penalty was awarded against arsenal in the last min he broke down and didn't even stay with his team... he went to the sideline... pathetic...

Well if we get £50 million for him then that won't be so bad, to be honest I don't think it's a problem because his frustration is with Rafa who will be gone in the summer anyway.

Nice to hear some honesty from the captain.  The league table doesnt lie and its time for the excuses to end.  Stevie, the fans and even the Manager all thought this year we had a squad to seriously challenge yet it hasn't happened.

If it was Carra saying the same thing it would be..... About time someone said it. Great to see how much Carra cares about Liverpool etc etc. Because its Gerrard, its put down as whinging Gerrard.

I don't think so mate...... Deep down, it's my feeling that he's all liverpool..... Proven commodity for us and has dragged us out time and time again....

I think it's just his nature to have whinge now and again... especially when things don't go our way....

It's the nature of winners.... look at the Keanes and Vieiras of this world. All proven winners and not a single one is afraid to call a spade a spade and to demand more from his collegues.

I agree though that the timing is probably not the best and he should have probably kept it in the dressing room and training ground.

Nothing wrong with what he has said, i just think the timing is wrong, and he should know that. The papers are looking to contort any quotes regarding our Club right now, they have the knife in and and are waiting to twist it, as i'm sure you've all seen from the back pages today. I'd rather he did his job as a Captain on the pitch, and i'm not talking about his personal performances, but being a captain in the mould of Keane, Adams etc. captains he believes to think he is similar to.

Look Gerrard speaks the truth (actually, its more of a case of speaking the obvious) but once again its "me me me". "I" don't want to be "saying this when "I" am 32".

Gerrard is an extremely good player, yes, he has done some magnificent things for the club but there are other chapters of his career that he can be less than proud of, such as his whinging in 2004 and 2005 (particularly before the Olympiakos match, which was disgraceful and put the whole team and manager under pressure, and what's more, people seem to forget that prior to scoring the third goal and winning all the plaudits, he had a terrible game and nearly cost Liverpool the tie with some wildly reckless challenges borne out of his own personal frustration) and whinging about being played out on the right.

Gerrard should follow his own advice and do his talking on the pitch.

And what kind of a Captain and team leader would that make him? What a dumb thing to say :no

Good point.

He can sometimes be perceived as a trifle selfish.
Could be it's a question that he's been quoted out of context this time..... after all, Fleet Street can never be accused of NOT sensationalising things can they....

But I agree, he is a mardy so-and-so sometimes and perhaps needs to handle the media a little better

He does have a point though.....

I think people are reading too much into it. doesn't sound like he tries to give himself leverage for a move or anything like that. I think it's clear he's gutted we're not in the mix for the title this season, same as we are. He knows the talent in the squad is improved and expected to be in the running for the title this season, again, same as we were. Just expressing his dissapointment as far as i read it.

Thankfully he didn't (then) start laying into his own Manager with a rant about rotation, tactics etc. He tactfully decided to leave that to us.

Any Liverpool captain in the last 40 years would have said the same. Its not good enough and we need to play better.

I dont see the issues other complain about.

He is only saying what most of us have been thinking. This season has been p!ss poor again , with only a couple of good wins in the CL lifting our season.

Take the CL wins against Marseille,Porto and Inter out , and who have we beaten this season ?

Our best results are probably Everton when we won with 2 penalties and a dodgy refereeing decision, and Villa when we won with a great free kick from a dodgy refereeing decision.

Yes we had a bad decision go against us against Chelsea ,but we still had 30mins to try to change it. Arsenal got a deserved draw and probably should have won. The mancs did what they usually do and took all 3 points. For the rest just a mixed bag of results.

We were a team supposedly equiped to make a challenge for the title this season, we are struggling to make a challenge for 4th place.

Can you blame him for being upset? Every year we hear the same thing ..... next season we will challenge for the title, we are just a winger and a striker short etc etc

No mate I don't think he's whinging .... just telling it like it is. A p!ss poor season that can only possibly be saved by a CL WIN.
