Fair point mate, I've said meself I don't think bringing in a new manager (although I've named one who I'd like to see here next year in Jol) I don't see it as the quick-fix answer. I agree fourth place has advantages, but I won't praise us for getting fourth. For me, fourth is nothing to be proud of, for a club of our size. It's not, no matter how far behind we are, it's nothing to be proud of so don't expect me to be cheering if we come fourth.

One way, IMO we could change things, is ensure that next season and every year after that until we get it right is we concentrate on the league, and the league alone. If we did that then we'd be guarenteed Champions League football anyway because we're certain to finish in the top four if the league is number 1 priority for the entire season. Also we'd push the top sides a lot closer if that was the case. We've got the quality there, and I still don't buy into the money arguement and my reasons for this are well known. Manager time served and board backing for me aren't great arguements either. Wenger won the league in his first full season, Mourinho the same. Benitez WAS fully backed in his first season and didn't deliver the league. Won the European Cup which is still one of the greatest achivements ever for this club, and something nobody can take away from us.

I think there's three things that decides who wins the league. One, consistancy and that's from performances right down to formation and tactics. Secondly, the desire and belief to win the league. It's something Ferguson gives his players, they know they're good enough. Three is the fear to lose. Ferguson again does this, if his team get beat, you see them come out twice as dertimined the following week. Our players don't seem to have any of these qualities. They don't believe they're good enough even though they've proven they can be. They're not consistant enough, for me down to rotation but still it's not consistancy. And they're not scared to lose because they're still picking up a fair whack at the end of the week without having to try.

You have insulted the mods on here, passion or not, thats what you have done. You have called them power mad rather than supporters. The long term members on here, mods included, have LFC imprinted on there heart, dont use the situation in which the club are in at present to represent your views on the situations which occur. Theres a right way and wrong way, your just bitching for the sake of bitching.

I called them power mad for one simple reason. They think they can say what the :censored:

I'll repeat myself again like a parrott, because people seem to miss the point I'm raising. If something is going to be decided for the benifit of the forum, everyone should be GIVEN THE CHANCE to voice their opinion and have a say. That isn't the case though. Half a dozen :censored:

lickers have the say instead, so it's not what the majority of people want necessarilly.

Unfortunately the majority haven't the balls to say this because they're in fear of a title.

Ive shown my support towards peewee and lando and truly believe that too many people are so sensitive towards real life that its becoming evident in these forums. Ive expressed my opinion in my beliefs and have been free to do so, your just having a go at the mods with no just cause and in that perspective, you are simply just bitching. Grow up, and leave your comments towards the club you are more consistent in that respect.

Well if you'd noticed it's me who's trying to bring this back to football, yet you and your precious moderators want to just keeping having a go. Also I see this has been put in the "general chat" which is for "non-footballing matters" apparently.

So I'd happily talk about football, and especially Liverpool Football Club, but that doesn't seem to be the drift for this particular topic.

Time served is important, for example Wenger and Fergie are managers allowed a free hand to do as they please at their clubs, and are consulted and involved in all decisions, they have better connections in the football system even tenuous relationships with referees can help with a decision here and there. They are allowed time to build without pressure. This IMO is invaluable in creating confidence in managers, we all talk about players confidence, but what about the manager?

The money issue is about how far we have fallen behind over the last 5-6 years, our rivals were buying £20-30m talent while we bought one player here and there over £10m. It has meant they have created better squads, Fact.

Owners backing is also pivotal, how can a manager crack the whip, be tough with slacking players if his own position has been speculated upon on a daily basis? Players, like it or not, will say to themsleves, 'You won't fcking be here next year anyway', and some will certainly have been wondering about their own futures during this time, hardly conducive to top class performances on the pitch. It only takes a small change in performance to result in draws or losses. Also what chance of signing players when they will be thinking '[I]Forget LFC and Rafa, he will be gone soon'. Also who on earth would come as a number 2 whilst all he speculation was rife?

I agree GBJH i would love a consistent assault on the the league, and thought we might this season, but isn't it feasible that just as things were looking OK the rug was pulled by our esteemed owners?

OK the owners are going to take the blame, I understand that, I appriciate that and to some extent I agree witht that.

But here's where I and most others differ. How come we were going to challenge up until the owners "pulled the rug". Surely it's the same side (in terms of money/cost) before the rug was pulled, surely Benitez has had the same amount of time as manager before the rug was pulled. So if we were going to challenge before the rug was pulled, how come now money and time at the club have all ensured why we haven't? It was the same money spent at the start of the season but we were going to challenege then. Benitez had been in charge long enough at the start of the season if we were going to challenge hadn't he?

Or is it because we've fell short AGAIN, people can now use them as an excuse, but at the start of the season we were going to challenge with the same problems people now use to explain why we haven't. That doesn't make sense to me anyway. (if you can't make head nor tail of it I'm sorry, I know what I'm trying to say, but not sure if I've worded it properly)

Also if we're going to continuelly blame money and time in charge. Then we won't be able to compete with QPR because they're now richer than us, and we won't be able to compete with Everton because Moyes has been in charge longer than Benitez. This is why I don't think they make a great deal of difference. I admit, happy folks I ADMIT, they play a part but there not good enough reasons for not challenging. At the end of the day, it's still 11 men against 11 men. I'm sure 10 years ago Wigan fans would be laughing if you said they'd be in the top flight but they are. It's 11 men on a pitch. Money and time in charge don't matter then.
