Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

lads ive asked twice for the pro rafa brigade to put out the source of their faith in him and nobody has. we've heard all the evidence of why he should go and if it was a court case he would defo be gone.so can anyone put forward a case for the defence instead of just criticizing the people who can plainly see hes not up to this job ?
shamrock rovers and liverpool are not a matter of life and death to me. they are much more important than that.

absolutely gutted. only thing cheering me up is all my gooner mates who were at manure yesterday and we can joke about it together... just numb from this result. wanted rafa out yesterday... not much has changed today im sorry to say

Well my outlook has changed. After reading the NOTW, its clear Rafa is deeply affected by all the :censored: going on in the backroom. He is possibly the person that has driven the Yanks out of Liverpool, and when DIC take over and back him, he will do his job the best he can and we WILL win the Premiership under him

Have Faith!!!! :bowdown

There is no case for the defence,,,,,,,,Rafa is guilty as charged.......and sentenced to an immediate exit from this club!.  :sniffle

Yesterday I logged on to watch what was the result (no tv here) and I was gutted to watch it.

I also saw The Rock asking kindly where were Lando and I. Of course I am here, suffering with the team. If someone want to take the "Rafa Brigade" as a sandbag to vent their frustrations let them do so. I'm gonna watch the complete match and trust me, I feel that will be punnishment enough for us. :(

:no In that case u can't consider urself a true fan . I have to agree with GBJH , kuyt scored today and still got blamed that bas.tard crouch missed so many and everyone blamed kuyt? When no pool player scored , it was kuyt who steppped up and scored , crouched missed how many ? Kuyt had 2 chances and scored with 1 , crouch had 5 or 6 and missed all . Who is to blame? I think crouch , they're both not liverpool quality but again this shows that kuyt is still better then crouch , who can't head for nuts and that's his bread and butter

I'm not even that surprised really, just numb, this is a new low. Rafa is an idiot, he knows his job is hanging by a thread but he opts to be arrogant as always and play a weakened team. Not being able to beat Barnsley at home is just embarassing, total disgrace, when will Rafa take the hint and feck off.
BTW Why does everyone assume DIC will back Rafa, they don't seem like the kind of organisation that supports mediocrity, they'll bring in Maureen and give him loads of cash and we'll win the league within 2 years.

Rafa demands respect
Reds boss hits back at critics

Liverpool manager Rafa Benitez has hit back at his critics after the Reds were dumped out of the FA Cup by Barnsley.

The Tykes, who sit mid-table in the Championship, recorded a huge upset as they came from behind to knock Liverpool out 2-1 at Anfield.

And the defeat adds increasing pressure on under-fire Benitez as Liverpool can now only realistically target silverware in this season's UEFA Champions League.

But Benitez, who took over at Anfield in 2004, has defended his record at Liverpool after guiding the Merseyside outfit to two Champions League finals in the past three years - including winning the competition in 2005.

Record

Benitez has also steered Liverpool to success in the 2006 FA Cup and Community Shield, alongside the 2005 European Super Cup, and the Spaniard believes that record deserves respect.

"If you analyse the last few years since I came to the club we have won four trophies and been in seven finals, including two in the Champions League," Benitez said in The People.

"How many other managers have done the same in their first three or four years at the club? People can talk about being successful but nobody is winning trophies every year.

"To do that is really difficult so I think we are in a really good position with a very young squad, so I have a lot of confidence in the team for the future."

Klinsmann link

Benitez's relationship with Liverpool's American owners George Gillett and Tom Hicks has also been questioned and his future at the club was cast into doubt after the duo met Jurgen Klinsmann, who is set to take over at Bayern Munich in the summer, earlier in the season.

"When you are trying to work hard and do your job it is hard to accept the criticism that is always following me," Benitez added. "And, yes, it is a big surprise to see another manager in the background."

Benitez, though, is confident Liverpool stand a good chance of progressing in the Champions League when they meet Italian champions Internazionale in the last 16 on Tuesday.

"It could be important to us to progress in Europe because that would give us more confidence, particularly if we beat a team like Inter," Benitez continued.

"It's not impossible. We have done it before and we could do it again - why not?"

even going by Rafa has just said, you can still tell he has no idea about english fans (liverpool fans).
we like to see the team play well each week, not just when its a CL cup game.

Sorry Hiemdell but that team on the pitch yesterday was not a weakend team it was more than capable of beating most teams in the prem never mind the first division. How many internationals were on that pitch yesterday?

And on a side note Raffa Benitez is not an idiot thank you

TO hell with rafa , i've had enough of his nonsense , he can just fu.ck off and leave . We don't keep a manager just because of his past achievements ,  mourinho was sacked and he had 2 premier league titles .

Without Torres and Gerrard we are hardly "capable of beating most teams in the prem" Nanny, capable of drawing against most teams in the prem maybe :D

Whats upset me the most about our "cup run" is that we have played 3 teams from lower divisions and each time they have passed the ball better than we have. We have been the team pumping the long ball upfield. Yesterday again Barnsley they were the team stringing 6 and 7 passes together while we were humping the ball up to Crouch hoping for a miracle.

So how can we compete Saint if we keep having to rely on them two players

Easy Nanny, because we're Liverpool Football Club and have a god given right to compete  :D
1) You'll Never Walk Alone
2) pass and move is the Liverpool groove
3) FIRST WILL ALWAYS BE FIRST AND SECOND WILL ALWAYS BE NOTHING.
4) If Torres has scored 60 league goals for Liverpool by the start of the 2011/12 season, I'll say he's better than Owen.
