Did Chelsea?

Were they the home side? Is there side three times more expensive than ours?

Oops!

ballacks attempt was quite close so yes they did. ah well if you are happy with that then thats all well and good, personally i saw another chance of getting 3 points back on the mancs but rafa went out of his way once again to not lose as opposed to going for the win,

i just say it as i see it and the sooner that clown is away from our club the better

that 'clown' gave you the fifth CL trophy and 7th FA Cup in his first 2 years... your prejudice is unbelieveable..

how many points off the top are we?  oh yeah thats right    :D

anyway i am going to sleep and leave you lot scrambling round for positives from another dropped 2 points and another lackluster display.

how many wide players did we have on the bench today? pennant, yossi, and kewell and he played kuyt on the right, tactical genius   :D

the point is you showing a total lack of respect for someone who gave the fans (including you) alot of happiness...  :no

again i am missing your point, so that means i have to accept the sh*t he is dishing up now, hell yeah lets just give him the job for life because of istanbul   :no

your whole attitude is really starting to annoy me now , nothing but pessimism. you begrudge the fact they did OK today and are looking to find something, ANYTHING to moan at, any opportunity to have ago at RAFA shame on you.
This is the reason that G&H get so much support off you cos you know that everything these two yank sh!tbags have done weakens your case against rafa. So even when every other fan with half a brain condemns the Americans and say they are out to milk the club dry, you back them !WHATS UR PROBLEM did you find your wife in bed with a Spanish fella with a goatee in years gone by or what? Or are you just one of those people that can never happy unless they can find something to moan at? Well do me a favour take your moaning elsewhere go depress some other forum.

i will tell you about my attitude shall i sunbeam.

over 30 f*cking years i watched this team on a regular basis, and i am not talking about 2 games a season and then spouting sh*te like i am a regular matchgoer.

I have seen titles won, i have seen cups won, i have seen total domination and been proud to be a fan and a scouser, I have seen heartbreak and i have seen 18 years of not winning the title. the problem with some of you is that you have never seen a title and have grown up with sh*te.

the fans on here who need to be questioning themselves are those happy with the predicament we are in now, it makes me ashamed to be a red when i read some of the excuses made on here about both our manager and our club, the fact is benitez is clueless and will never win the league so why are some of you defending him and making excuses for him?

our club is becoming a laughing stock, and while you are talking about whingers look at the the so called fans in the 'games abroad' thread, it makes me ashamed to go in there and read it. all the 'oh this shouldnt happen to us', look at all the negative comments about the owners, look at all the b*tching about other clubs

so when you talk about negative things written look at the positives i write about the owners and about playing games overseas, look at the positives i write about players, but never expect me to praise the manager when he f*cks up, never expect me to praise players when they f*ck up.

the fact is i love this club and like i say elsewhere i was here before rafa and i will be here long after he has gone to madrid, he is here for a paycheck, he is not here to put the club first, he is here to try and advance himself and he is failing. if he was putting the club first he would listen to advice rather than plough on regardless serving up this garbage.

we are currently in the middle of our worst spell under rafa but still i see excuses and people shifting the blame elsewhere. are you all happy with mediocrity? well i am not, but then again i know different, i have seen titles won by our club and i want to see it again, get rid of this idiot, get someone in with tactical nous (genius my @rse) and we will have some chance.

some of you need to remember what this club is all about.

case over

Amen Brother! Amen.

It never ceases to amaze me, the amount of lemmings that are happy playing in a sandpit of poo.

Neverton supporters in denial, the lot of them!

well peewee I respect you for watching this team for 30 years... but it is very dangerous to live in the past... things, as you know, are very different now... we should live in the present and deal with the reality that is now and assess things as they are in the current condition... fine you're critical about the manager... no one is asking you not to...but ffs show some respect for someone who gave us the 5th CL title... and are you critical about the owners who in the first place are responsible for not being able to keep this club up with other clubs in terms of branding and financial power? today's football is not just about the manager... it's about the whole package... whenever you criticize benitez and asks for his head, include a name that will definitely do better than benitez... and btw those of us who show some respect to the manager are by no means 'content' with how we are doing now as you make it out to be and are not itching to give benitez job for life at anfield... on the contrary we want the league title as much as any other fan... so it would be wise not to insult the intelligence of those fans by saying 'i've seen us win titles you guys can be content but i'm not content' blah blah blah... it gets pretty boring after awhile... but those fans know for a fact that a manager needs time to succeed in a league where the mancs, chelsea and arsenal are dominating NOW especially when we don't have the same financial muscle as them... there have been countless posts on how ferguson was given all the time in the world to win his first league title... on how many titles wenger won in all his years at arsenal... on how abramovich spent 200-300 million dollars to buy the league... they are not excuses... they are FACTS, facts of life in football TODAY, which YOU tend to ignore... the same way you ignored the fact that crouch could have easily won us the 3 points and instead decides to blame it all on rafa's substitutions, which was very laughable... as it is you tend to ignore all those other facts and blame it all on the manager and at the same time show no respect at all...your posts as they are, are very narrow minded, no doubt clouded by your prejudice against benitez... if you definitely know someone who can win us the title next season, by all means bring him to melwood now... and I'll call the yanks to fire benitez immediately...

If we were 15 points ahead of the rest of the league, this would be a great result, but since we're now 7 points behind Everton, anytime we fail to win is a bad result because it's one less game we have to catch those 7 points. Is that too difficult to see? The overall result looks like a good one, but because we're so far back it is a bad result. We have to win each remaining game, because if not then we're not going to catch them, unless (and I doubt it) they flop and don't manage another point all season.

7 points? Are you high?

We are 3 behind with a game in hand and a superior goal-difference.

1st off Benitez gave us our FIRST champions league title, not our 5th. It was our FIFTH EUROPEAN CUP but FIRST champions league, just to be precise about things.

Secondly as I've proven in other posts, Everton don't have the same finicial backing as us, yet seem to do just fine and are currently above us, so that arguement holds no truth. If they can do better than us, we can do better than those with more money. We finished above Tottenham and Newcastle yet they've spent more, more finance, so if we can finish above those two, why not United and Chelsea, bollox arguemnt, it's nothing to do with money.

Thirdly fans like myself and peewee have seen us dominante football so we know what it takes to win the league. You lot are content with finishing 3rd/4th and below as well as being a staggering 20-40 points behind, because if you wasn't Benitez would be sacked by now. Again as I've said elsewhere in this thread, 1st is still 1st and 2nd is still nothing. Unless we finish 1st it's a failed season as far as I'm concerned.

Fourthly, is four years not long enough to build a team capable of challenging? I think it is, and I think we have a team worth challenging right now, problem is we're not, and we're not because of Benitez. The majority of players right now at Liverpool Football Club and good enough to mount a challenge, Benitez' rotation/tactics and the rest of it are what's costing us.

Fifthly Crouch "could" of won us the game, fair enough but at least he had the chances. Nobody else did. As for Benitez' subs, you mean all one, peewee blames Benitez for not making all three, also why bring Pennant (a natural RIGHT winger on to play down the left when we have Kewell who's a natural LEFT winger)

Finally Kenny Dalglish could win us the league next season, as could one of a million men, but if you ask me to name one who WILL then no club would have a manager because nobody knows who will win the league, but we can firmly assume that Benitez won't.
1) You'll Never Walk Alone
2) pass and move is the Liverpool groove
3) FIRST WILL ALWAYS BE FIRST AND SECOND WILL ALWAYS BE NOTHING.
4) If Torres has scored 60 league goals for Liverpool by the start of the 2011/12 season, I'll say he's better than Owen.

Liverpool Next Three Games

vs Barnsley
vs Inter
vs Boro

Barnsley have had mixed results recently. We should be looking to beat them fairly comfortably, although I don't know what kind of team Rafa intends to put forward.

Inter obviously will be solid. People say Rafa focuses on Europe, well we'll see.

Boro haven't lost a match since the start of the year. They will be tricky for sure. Torres should be back for that one, I hope.

Everscum's next Prem game, after their UEFA Cup ties, is against Man City. That will be a tough one for them.

The problem with you is you're living in the past.  Just because we've won everything 30 years ago, it does not give us this divine right to win the title every year.  There is no manager who can come in and give us the title for at least two years.  It does not matter if you bring in Kenny or Mourinho, it would still take them at least 2 years to build a title winning team.  Would you be willing to wait that long?

I thought the team played well today , Carra was solid as ever , Riise didn't give cole much room , Skrtel made some good interceptions with what looked like a broken wrist , really impressed with the lad , best game by far and against chelsea , Gerrard had an average game i think , Babel had a good game , gave belleti a torrid time , ran past him 2 to 3 times with his pace and needed at least 2 defenders to get the ball from him. Kuyt was as hardworking as ever covered stevie when he was supposed to be out right but was in the middle . Lucas , committed sometimes to early and missed a few tackles , decent game from the lad , ventured foward sometimes . Crouch missed a couple of good chances and shows why he hasn't played much this season . Masch was the man of the match from me , single handedly controlled the whole chelsea midfield , didn't let ballack nor fat frank any joy out there .. Overall i fell on our first half performance , if crouch had scored the first and the one which he could not vget any power from stevie's cross , we would and should have won. I rmb Chelsea only having 1 good chance , the one whihc ballack nicked it past the post . Overall we looked like the home team and chelsea like the away . With that said the only 3 games which can be a draw for us till the end of the season would be this chelsea for the first , arsenal and manure ..

Was never gonna be the most entertaining of games but was a good point against difficult opposition.

I thought Chelsea were there for the taking today. We made them look very average at times. We completely bossed the midfield and we didnt give Cole, SWP or Anelka a sniff in front of goal. Thought we were excellent defensively.

Going forward we didnt create that much but would have been great if Crouch would have took one of his chances.  Babel was much better today and Kuyt didnt do too much wrong IMO, kept the ball well.

I think we got a good response from the players and this is definitely something we can build on. Lets hope we can go on a bit of a run now.

Its interesting how much extreme points of veiw there are with Benitez.  Whilst many love him, many also want his blood.  I fall in the middle ground I think.  Which will no doubt get me and others flack from both camps.  I would like to see Rafa given both more money and time to finish the job especially as I think he has transformed the youth system and the reserves.  He has spent heavily on reserve and youth team players who wil take a while to break through. However I really believe that everyone's opinion here on Rafa is pointless.  He needs to win the champions league to stay in charge next season.  The Americans on the other hand are going nowhere.  If Rafa fails to win the champions league they will have all the ammunition they need to let him go.  I can't see any other way for Rafa to survive, I think he knows this and might jump before he's pushed.  Madrid might get there man or even Barcelona.  There remain many questions about the club however that need answers and my two are.

1.  Why has it taken so long to win a premiership title?
Answer: I think there are a number of reasons not least is the trauma that came from Heysel and Hillsbrough in terms of the fans and the club. These two disasters are always in the back of everyones mind.  Our history is not simply one of glory days.  We had the darkest of days as well.  There is a collective melancholy that surrounds Liverpool FC and next year on the 15th of April we mark the loss of 96 fans for whose families there has been no closeur.(Just a failure of the Government to allow the survivors and the victims a voice and their justice.)  Too many fans at games are blinded by the football and have forgotten or don't know about those who should be sitting beside them.  I know there are many survivors and victims who use this site. (gob bless you) Although I love Liverpool FC but its not enough to ever put the football above the lives of those 96 fans or the hurt of families and friends. Young fans may well not understand this but for so many of us who remember that far back you'll know how that sadness never leaves.  Hillsbrough was the marking of the end of the Liverpools dominance of top flight English football.  So many of the players and staff were hunted by what they saw and experienced and many left not least. Joe Fagan after Heysel and Dalglish after Hillsbrough.  These two disasters were too much for so many players and staff.  Sadly, some elements of the so called media who lied to sell papers are still lying today and have a grudge against the club and its fans.  They take great delight in having a go at our fans, players and managers.  They are worse than scum and to be pitied.  Therefore although we have won the Champions league we still await the day when we will rise like a phoneix.  I love Anfield but it has also too many sad memories and perhaps a new ground is needed for so many more reasons than just increased revenue. As for the other reasons  We could talk forever about those.

2.  Where Liverpool punching above their weight in the 70s and 80s?
Answer: No.  They were fantastic. There was however two things we currently lack.  Continuity and courage. I'll say no more other than define them

Continuity= The state or quality of being continuous. An uninterrupted succession or flow; a coherent
whole.
Courage= 1. the quality of mind or spirit that enables a person to face difficulty, danger, pain, etc., without fear; bravery.  2. Obsolete. the heart as the source of emotion.  —Idiom 3. have the courage of one's convictions, to act in accordance with one's beliefs, esp. in spite of criticism.

What do you think? What are your questions?

A point away to chelsea is a good result but we should of won.  Chelsea were there to be beaten and I am disappointed the Manager didnt really go for it.  At no point in the game did we try and get more men forward in advanced positions.  Rafa just isnt prepared to really go for it in games.

If a person had never seen the league table and u told them how many games us and Utd had lost and then told them what the table looks like they wouldnt believe it.  So sad to see us so far behind even though we have lost less.

That is the worst I've ever seen Chelsea play, if we couldn't beat them yesterday then we'll never beat them at Stamford Bridge. I'll accept that Rafa probably had no choice other than to start Kuyt but an adventurous manager who isn't stuck in his ways would not have taken Babel off, he would have taken Kuyt off. Why can't Rafa just once start Babel up front when its bloody obvious that's where he plays best, he is always cutting inside and in front of goal he looks very dangerous.
All in all I'm happy with a point but we really should have beaten Chelsea as they were bloody awfull.

Can't understand why everyone thinks Kuyt played well, must mean you have very low expectations of him, I thought he was completly ineffectual again and constantly getting into wrong positions and fecking up his passes.
