Good result.  Would have taken it before the game, but in hindsight we could have got all 3 points.

We weren't at our best, but fortunately we caught Chelsea at their very worst.  They couldn't string 2 passes together let alone muster a shot on goal.

The players fought hard and 2 positives were Skrtel's performance, who was our second best player and  Mascherano who was superb I thought.  How many tackles did he win that he'd absolutely no right to?  Awesome.  Crouch also did well holding the play up, often surrounded by Chelsea players.

As usual though it was square pegs in round holes from Benitez.  Kuyt playing wide right when you have Benayoun, Pennant and Kewell all available was strange.

Overall we can be happy enough.

Did Chelsea?

Were they the home side? Is there side three times more expensive than ours?

Oops!

ballacks attempt was quite close so yes they did. ah well if you are happy with that then thats all well and good, personally i saw another chance of getting 3 points back on the mancs but rafa went out of his way once again to not lose as opposed to going for the win,

i just say it as i see it and the sooner that clown is away from our club the better

that 'clown' gave you the fifth CL trophy and 7th FA Cup in his first 2 years... your prejudice is unbelieveable..

I think that teams often overestimate Chelsea at Stamford Bridge, ESPECIALLY Liverpool. It is almost as if teams expect that they will likely not win so they play over defensively and then this bites them in the :censored:.

In the second half there were so many opportunities (nearing the end of the game) where Liverpool had a chance to bring the ball up from their half and attempt to create and offensive chance. However, all they did was just boot it up the field to what was, more than likely, a Chelsea player. This was so frustrating. Carragher did it, Mascherano did it, many of the players did it. Sometimes we need to learn how to hold the ball and create chances as opposed to playing so safely.

Getting three points back on the Mancs?

Reality check time - three points would not have made a difference to where we are to where they are whatsoever. They are a far cry away. We are not looking at them in the league at all whatsoever, and nor should we be. We can't catch them, so what's the point? We should be more concerned about Everton, Villa, Portsmouth etc etc. It's sad to accept, but that's the reality. Having a chip on your shoulder over the Manc's at this stage is completely pointless and folly. Yes it's great that they lost. Whoop-de-doo-da! They're still a long way off. Oh, and lest I forget - Arsenal are the league leaders never mind the Mancs.

how many wide players did we have on the bench today? pennant, yossi, and kewell and he played kuyt on the right, tactical genius   :D

They haven't lost there in 2 years (I think), so they must be doing something right. I'm just stunned that people think we had the divine right to go there today and win.

We were the better team. They were at home. Their side cost twice as what our squad does, and they arguably have much better quality, whereas we our in the middle of a major crisis and still made them look sh*t. Now, tell me, why are people so unhappy at a reasonable result when it could have been much worse. Had we been top of the table and drew, there'd be very few complaints.

errr... geez let me see how i can put this clearly for you to understand... ok here you go... why would you put the blame on rafa's subs for not getting us 3 points and conveniently ignore the misses by crouch one of which is a clear cut sitter INSIDE the penalty box which a striker in the second league would have put away (not all of them are headers you know)... ? I don't know... why oh why?

It may not be a great result and yes maybe we could have taken more but after the way things have been going lately we MUST use this credible draw as a launching pad for the rest of the season. Things are still far from rosy but the performance was a bit better today.
Rafa's substitution was a strange one again as although Babel wasn't playing out of his skin he again looked more of a danger than Kuyt had and would have allowed for Pennant to go to his more orthodox right wing position. At times you get the feeling that Rafa would prefer to do thing the hard way with some of his choices but given the run we've been on lately and all of the doom and gloom surrounding the club I felt that Rafa did get his tactics right today.

Sadly i cant see that any of our wide players would make any kind of impact against a decent team.
