I'd like to see Crouch through the middle with Yossi playing just off him. It's the partnership i'd go for everytime Torres is unavailable. I really don't expect to see a Crouch-Babel partnership.

Liverpool FC spokesman Ian Cotton said: "Fernando was examined by medical staff when he returned to Melwood.

"A scan later confirmed their diagnosis that he suffered a hamstring tear in his right leg. Fernando is expected to be out for approximately 10 days."

The first goal is crucial, whoever gets it will probably win.  If we are chasing the game I'm not confident we can come back especially with Torres out.  Rafa should have brought in a striker in the transfer window.  Kuyt and Voronin are as useful as edible bog roll.  Defoe would have been a good addition to the squad, quick, can beat a man and knows how to score (unlike Kuyt).

Yeh just seen this on the news...  Crouch has gotta play obviously he will be on his own with 5 across the middle.

But hey Drogba's missing isn't he? :)

So that makes us equal... doesn't it? :)

But they've got Anelka

but hey we've got Kuyt

Mascherano will play the guys a monster, he could walk of the pitch after the Argentina match change into his Liverpool kit and go out and play against Chelsea :D

Gutted that Torres is out but hopefully we can put all this one man team cr@p to bed and end Chelsea's unbeaten home record without him.

I can see Carra starting on the  right wing whipping crosses into Crouch all game 3-0 to Liverpool :;):

Rafa Benitez has confirmed Liverpool fans' worst fears by revealing Fernando Torres is very unlikely to feature against Chelsea on Sunday.
The striker lasted just 23 minutes of Spain's 1-0 victory over France on Wednesday after picking up a hamstring injury.

The news comes as a major blow for Benitez, who is already without Daniel Agger, Andriy Voronin, Alvaro Arbeloa, Fabio Aurelio and the suspended Xabi Alonso.

On top of this, Javier Mascherano will not arrive back at Melwood until Friday due to Argentina's friendly clash with Guatemala later today.

Benitez said: "We have lost Torres and Mascherano is not back until tomorrow. I don't think it (the international friendly situation) is fair. I think Mascherano will be okay for Sunday but we will have to see.

"The news we have on Torres is that it is a hamstring injury. I need to talk to the doctor but I think he will miss this game. Normally it is a week when a player goes off like this.

"It is a big problem for us."

this is not good at all......

Anelka missed an open goal against us , yes even the keeper was out of position , it was an empty net

Well we would get a friendly week before a tough away game, and all those clubs who whinge about injuries incurred during the friendly week rarely lose such a key player. I really don't see much gain with friendlies mid season, might as well play them close season. We could have played a midweek game instead and finished the season a week early, then play friendlies in the summer (or before the championship to those countries and years applicable) with the countries concerned about keeping their players fit and not borrowing our player for a game with his fitness OUR concern the game after. They'd kick up a fuss if he were injured for their game

Any chance he will be fit for the Inter game?

Wooo hooo great news  :buttrock  :D

TORRES IN CONTENTION FOR FA CUP TIE
Steve Hunter 10 February 2008
Rafael Benitez has revealed that star striker Fernando Torres could be back in action for the FA Cup fifth round tie at home to Barnsley next Saturday.
The Spanish star picked up a hamstring injury while on international duty in a friendly against France last Wednesday. However, the player is making good progress and Benitez is confident he will be back available for selection ahead of the Champions League clash with Inter Milan.

"Maybe Fernando will be available for the weekend against Barnsley," said Benitez. "We will have to see.

"We have time now and the physios are working really hard with him. He is very optimistic so I think he could be available for the weekend."

I am sure if he is fit for the FA cup tie he would only come on as a sub, or start and take off early because the Inter match is on Tuesday
