Torres injured

Babel (fitness permitting) and Crouch up top then, I reckon.

Failing that, I think Benayoun playing off Crouch needs looking at. Kuyt and Voronin really have no business featuring in this game.

In a strange way this might actually work in our favour as they would have been totally focussed on shutting out Fernando but now they will have the awesome Kuyt to worry about.
I would like to see Babel, Kuyt and Crouch in attack, might as well go for it!!

Good news, we didn't need this.

I'm my experience even the small of sharp pains originating in the hamstring area equates to at least 2 weeks recovery time. You can't rush hamstring injuries, you only have to look at Michael Owen when he came back too soon from injury.

Rafa Benitez has confirmed Liverpool fans' worst fears by revealing Fernando Torres is very unlikely to feature against Chelsea on Sunday.
The striker lasted just 23 minutes of Spain's 1-0 victory over France on Wednesday after picking up a hamstring injury.

The news comes as a major blow for Benitez, who is already without Daniel Agger, Andriy Voronin, Alvaro Arbeloa, Fabio Aurelio and the suspended Xabi Alonso.

On top of this, Javier Mascherano will not arrive back at Melwood until Friday due to Argentina's friendly clash with Guatemala later today.

Benitez said: "We have lost Torres and Mascherano is not back until tomorrow. I don't think it (the international friendly situation) is fair. I think Mascherano will be okay for Sunday but we will have to see.

"The news we have on Torres is that it is a hamstring injury. I need to talk to the doctor but I think he will miss this game. Normally it is a week when a player goes off like this.

"It is a big problem for us."

this is not good at all......

All hope is not lost.

Where did you hear this?

I hope it's true  :D but what does that mean for the loan and debt? Is it not officially on the club yet?

Ah well in comes Kuyt.

Its best not to risk Torres, he looked knackered recently anyway and we REALLY need him for the Milan game

In Italy

I was joking Ciggs.

He must be laughing at this. If Alonso is out, Lucas is injured and Masch might be to tired to play, chances are he would have got his game.  :D

OMG we might finaly play attacking football we couldnt have that could we , fu.ck me we might win !

Torres set to miss Chelsea match

Torres was replaced by Daniel Guiza after Thuram's tackle
Liverpool manager Rafael Benitez said striker Fernando Torres will miss his side's Premier League game against Chelsea on Sunday.
Torres had been hopeful of recovering from a hamstring injury sustained in Spain's win over France on Wednesday.

But Benitez says the 23-year-old is set to miss out at Stamford Bridge.

"I need to talk to the doctor but I think he will miss this game," said Benitez. "Normally it is a week when a player goes off like this."

News conference: Liverpool boss Rafael Benitez

Torres was forced to withdraw after a challenge from France's Lilian Thuram in the 1-0 victory and was substituted in the 22nd minute.

His absence would be a huge blow for Benitez, who is already without five key players for the trip to west London.

606: DEBATE
How much will Liverpool miss Torres's presence at Stamford Bridge?

The Spaniard - Liverpool's top scorer with 18 goals so far this season - joins Daniel Agger, Andriy Voronin, Alvaro Arbeloa and Fabio Aurelio in the treatment room, while midfielder Xabi Alonso is unavailable through suspension.

And Benitez faces an anxious wait on the return of Javier Mascherano, who is currently in Los Angeles preparing for Argentina's friendly against Guatemala on Thursday evening.

"I don't think it (the international friendly situation) is fair. I think Mascherano will be okay for Sunday but we will have to see," said Benitez.

Torres signed from Atletico Madrid last summer for a club record believed to be £26m.

He has now become invaluable to the out-of-form side and will be a major loss if he cannot face Chelsea as Liverpool chase Champions League qualification via a top four finish."
