Fair play as 3-0 is good win but it feels like an anti climax.

Sunderland are desperate and the scoreline papers over the cracks at Anfield.

On the night I felt Pennant played ok as did Mascherano but somehow despite a decent win I feel distinctly underwhelmed by it all!

thats the thing, pennant is fine up against poor defenders

if we wanted to finish top 6 every season the pennant is good enough for that

Is it in the rules of newkit that every match must be followed by a kuyt argument?

We were poor first half. We had no threat from the left so Sunderland were able to concentrate on stopping Pennant. Second half we improved greatly. The goal gave us confidence and we finally stepped up a gear (although only into 2nd - still a long way to go).

Pennant and Mascherano were the best players for me although I'd give MOM to Pennant. Despite some of his crosses being wayward he was a constant threat and regularly beat his man.

The fact that Lucas played left wing shows how desperate we are for a true winger. Apart from Kewell (who doesn't seem to want to play for a new contract - wouldn't be surprised if he'd lined up a move elsewhere already) we have no natural left sided midfielders. I'd rather see Leto or Hamill given a go that play players out of position.

Not sure if it was the Setanta feed but the co-commentator on Fox Sports was doing my head in. When they put it over from a corner he said "we were all hoping white shirts would get to that first and put it in". No we weren't :angry:

as for today's game... we're still lethargic... wasn't very impressed with Gerrard's game... masch and pennant did pretty well IMO... Crouch looked lively too and did well with the goal... I don't understand the reason why carragher had to play RB and finnan LB... all of a sudden we dont' have full backs anymore? or is Rafa dropping players because of our performance against West Ham? All in all it's a deserved win and hopefully our return to form can start from here...

did everything needed from him and did nothing wrong as far as i recall.
