Liverpool midfielder Momo Sissoko could be on his way back to Valencia for a knockdown £7million.

Liverpool manager Rafa Benitez has been asked by the club's owners to find a buyer for Sissoko to finance the £6m purchase of Slovakia defender Martin Skrtel.

American owners Tom Hicks and George Gillett sanctioned the purchase of centre-back Skrtel believing that Sissoko's £10m move to Juventus was imminent. However, that fell through.

Benitez is now under pressure to get the best price while Sissoko is on Africa Cup of Nations duty for Mali.

I remember when Dalglish went to Newcastle. He was supposedly told he had to sell players to improve the clubs financial position after the club was floated on the stock market.

He sold :-

Clark -£2.5m
Elliot -£3.5m
Ginola & Ferdinand £8m
Beardsley -£450k
Asprilla -£6m

Total of £20+million which was a lot of money in those days (keep me in cigs even now)

He brought in to replace them Given, Ketsbaia, Pearce,Kelly,Pinas,Barnes and Rush (ALL FREE TRANSFERS)

I just hope the two clowns don't decide to do the same here.

Sissoko was interviewed earlier and said he expected a deal to be finalised in the next 3 days.

Momo wasn't doing much for the club, he is worth more to us in cash now. but what is more important is what will be done with the money, will it be seen as a way to pay for Skrtel, some money towards signing up Mascherano, or just to go into the shrinking wallets of the owners?

my guess would be top pay off the skrtel transfer, then wallets. - or just get absorbed into all this money they're loaning

Obviously going on rumours and possibilities, but its wouldnt be to far-fetched to get 9mil for momo, flog riise to the toon for 6.5mil then make a deal with villa saying something like carson is a £10mil player, but you can have him for £8m this jan window.... those figures would total £23.5m - which would be enough for both skrtel and masher.... i know that's a bit champ manager.... but we can all hope!!!  :)

Juventus have agreed a deal to sign Momo Sissoko from Liverpool for €13m and the transfer will become official this Sunday, according to the Gazzetta dello Sport.

The 23-year-old midfielder has been strongly associated with the Bianconeri for several weeks now, with the only question seemingly being whether he would arrive in Turin this month or in June.

Sissoko will touch down in Turin on Sunday, where he will complete a routine medical, complete the final signature, before flying back to Ghana for the African Cup of Nations, where he is representing his country Mali.

Theoretically Sissoko is already a Juventus player after an agreement was reached yesterday over both a transfer fee and wages.

Juve will pay Liverpool €13m, with €11m being paid immediately, and another €2m after a set number of league and cup appearances.

Sissoko has agreed a four-and-a-half-year contract, with an option of an extra year after this. The player will receive a healthy €2.5m a year, which works out at just under €50,000 a week.

Juventus have been desperate to sign a centre midfielder this month following the disastrous performances of Tiago Mendes and Sergio Almiron, who were signed for a combined €22m last summer.

Sissoko had the chance to join the Old Lady last summer but he rejected the transfer in favour of signing a new contract at Liverpool.

This season he has barely featured for the Merseyside-based club, and it seems he has had a change of heart over a move to Italy’s most successful club

Not only his eye injury but I also think the fact that there was a lot of competition shattered his confidence and he knew a bad performance would cost him his place. On form a great midfielder and will definately get better.

It's reported in the Echo to be a £9 million deal which will leave us with a £3.5 million profit - well that's 10% of our annual interest on the loan paid off then.
