Liverpool make Alonso bid
Alonso played twice at Euro 2004
Real Sociedad have confirmed that Liverpool have made a bid for Spanish international midfielder Xabi Alonso.
The Basque club said they had received an offer - thought to be worth £10.7m - after a meeting in San Sebastien.
"The English representatives showed interest in signing the player and the Spanish club expressed interest in selling the player," said a statement.
