Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

That really is NOT the Liverpool way.

I find it quite abstruse that those people who condemn Hicks and Gillett for debasing the Liverpool way, then advocate action which in itself goes against the Liverpool way in what would be a far worse course of action than anything Hicks and Gillett have (or have not) done.

How would boycotting matches, or action of a similar sort help resolve the situation?

It wouldn't, it would inflame the situation, the media would have a frenzy and we'd lose credibility. Why stoop to that level?

I'll not support anything like that, and I have a fair idea that most match-going supporters are of the same opinion.

FWIW, I don't want Hicks and Gillett out a.s.a.p. I'm interested in seeing what happens this summer, if Rafa is still our manager, if they back the manager in the transfer market, how they intend to increase revenue streams, and what will finally come of the New stadium.

They've gone against the spirit of their initial takeover and made a really poor error of judgement recently, but I really would prefer to put this to bed for the time being. That is the Liverpool way, perpetuating the shit is not the Liverpool way. We're virtually bang in the middle of our season, we need to focus, trying to force the owners out at this present moment is not in the best interests of the club.

I agree. And in any case, it is better to make your voice heard in front of a global audience by protesting at live games and still showing support for the team. A boycott would do more damage than good.

Agreed. Lets wait and see.

No ill tell you whats not the Liverpool way
!!the owners unveiling this fantastic new stadium to the world , then a couple of months later saying "!oops that's what you could of had" if we had money.
The owners telling the manager he cant buy or sell players or even get them on a bossman[B][U] until they say so.
The owners not willing to risk a penny of their own money but having no probs mortgaging us up to the hilt after promising not to.
The owners belittling the manager before the whole world hoping he'd resign so they could get some yes man in who would keep his mouth shut when they said.
The owners asking some German assistant national team manager who has won fook all for info about European club football. whilst their own manager who has won the CL , FA, and la liga is told to keep stum and coach.
But most of all whats not the Liverpool way is the fans like you sitting back and taking it , hoping it all turns out okay in the end.
whats the piont of us all coming onto this forum and forums like this? is it just to bitch and moan about our club, or crow what a wonderful team we have , "this player is fantastic " "this ones sh-t " blaah blah blah. surly if we dont influence things even slightly its all pointless. So if you want to sit back and take it fine but i advocate hitting the yanks in the pocket were it hurts and getting them out now

And what do you know about our owners? and our future stadium? Or indeed why are they such a disgrace?

i think their performance so far tells it all.

Go away and wind someone else up.

Im not looking to wind you up, im just looking for the answers as to why people are wound up by them. And judging by your answer its a case of simply jumping on the bandwagon. There performance so far? What performance would that be? I get the feeling your not alone in your answers. Its easy to jump on a bandwagon.

go wind up someone else please, im not in the form to argue with you, if you want my thoughts on the G + H issue have a look at my posts history, its all in there (since they "bought" the club not the last few weeks), now, go annoy someone else thanks.....

I'll take that as a no comment then, this is a forum, if you have an argument back it up with facts. You seem unwilling to do that. You'll take your chances with new owners but cant explain why. Your one of many.

they lied about the debt,
they cudnt deliver the stadium they wanted,
their business managment style has been appalling,
their idea of bringing in a manager like klinsmann is an appalling football decision
they havent invested any of their own money and are happy to make us a mediocre club like they have a history of doing with other teams they have been involved in.
Those are my reasons, they are as i said, based on what G + H have done so far.
I couldnt be bothered arguing with you because your a wind up merchant or a G + H supporter and if thats your view then your entitled to them.  I think the anomosity towards G + H tells its own story. Its not a bandwagon sunshine its a genuine held believe by me and many others.

Grow up child!

so lets put this little scenario to you then , lets suppose hicks and co decide they would make more money by bringing in the bulldozers and building a new ASDA were lfc now stands . What would you (and your mates cos you know what they think) actually do ??
Lets  see you wouldn't protest, cos  it might affect the moral of the players. "Its not the Liverpool way"

I know you could sing some nasty songs about the yanks, maybe go on a forum or two and bitch and moan I'm sure that would work lol.

As far as I'm concerned the yanks have already started the demolished for gods sake, the first few bricks have already gone. How long should we wait ?? until that big neon sign lights up for the first time   ! ASDA !

We wont have a club left if we don't make a stand NOW while we can put pressure on the yanks

cheers  to you and your mates

You're advocating supporters should boycott matches, and I should grow up?

Your puerility is astounding.

Who are you? And Pandy?

That's a ridiculous attempt to scaremonger, it wouldn't happen. I'm virtually certain Hicks and Gillett wouldn't convert Anfield into an ADSA store, in fact I shouldn't even have to justify myself on this one. These guys have made errors, altered their plans, made slow progress on the stadium etc.. but to portray them in the way you are, and to pay any sort of credence to the possibility that they might convert Anfield into an ASDA store demonstrates an acute lack of judgement on your part. Of course if that scenario arose, people would protest, but it's well beyond the realms of possibilty as far as I'm concerned.

Of course supporters can protest, they can do what they like, as it happens I think boycotting matches (which they won't btw) would do far more harm than good and I'll debate that with anyone - FACT. You can protest in many ways, I'd prefer to protest my love for the club, my support for the team and the manager. That's what we need now, we don't need distraction.

No, make your stand at the end of the season. At this present moment, our support should be with the team and the manager. We need results desperately, radical action such as boycotting matches will dent our hopes of achieving anything this season.

im with lfc2007. support the team. the politics is not as important as the football. we need to support the football and trust that the powers that be will do what needs to. then at the end of the season, we can do what needs to be done, if it needs to be done
