Once again Sky Sports News research a statistic that makes no sense in the real world and want to present it as an amazing fact and a reason why Liverpool only lie 4th in the League, are through to the knockout stages of the Champions League and are in the 4th round of the FA Cup.
Sky's amazing piece of info is that without Torres and Gerrard we would be 10th in the Premiership,which is pretty good going for a team of nine men.Apparently if you wiped their goals from our stats then the points tally would be affected by 7 ,leaving us on 32 points.Incredible!
But of course they never thought to use this wonderful piece of ingenuity for the teams above us ,just to make the comparison and to give their silly statistic league a bit of credibility. So I have done it for them using their formula of removing the top two scorers from each of the teams in turn.

MANU lose Ronaldo & Tevez which in turn costs them 16 points and would put them in 9th position in todays league table.

ARSENAL lose Adebayor & Fabregas and the 20 points they secured for the Gunners meaning they would drop to 11th place in todays table.

CHELSEA lose Drogba & Lampard and like Liverpool lose 7 points but their position stays unchanged 3rd.

So in retrospect the satistics Sky have unearthed and will no doubt discuss in depth are a load of b.*ll*c*ks.Hopefully the penny will drop and the cockney researcher will be sent back to kids TV

Good job, it really shows just how low the media will go. Do they actually think that people are so stupid that they will believe these kinds of statistics?

That's stupid analysing potential results when taking away the two best scorers of any club, even Real Madrid or Inter... I hate the media...

One amazing statistic I have found is that we lose or draw a lot more games and conceed a lot more goals when Alonso plays, than when he doesn't. Same with Gerrard, Mascherano and Torres!

For example against Luton we conceeded a goal and drew. They didn't play again for 6 days during which time we neither lost or conceeded any goals. Most of them played again against Middlesbrough and again we conceeded drawing the game! In fact in the summer when none of them played for us we didn't lose or draw a single game. Pretty conclusive proof that we should sell Alonso

It's not rocket science that the kind of things they are saying it's bóllocks. It's like saying that if yesteryear we were third without Torres, we'd be automatically first with him.

If it doesn't work one way, it doesn't work the other. Sky never seem to love us much anyway.

Pretty conclusive proof they'd like that we think about selling Alonso. I guess that even being worse than Mascherano (I'm generous today S@int) he'd have a place in Manchester United before guys like Carrick and people like that?

I'm sure that more than one London bástard would like us selling Gerrard, Alonso, sacking Rafa and everything. It's good for them.
