I think we've been pretty poor TBPH but it's hardly surprising given the week we've had. It's the first chance I've had to have a look at us "live" for a few matches, and one or two things stick out like a sore thumb. Firstly i think we have a distinct lack of energy. You can talk all you like about 4-5-1's, 4-4-2's, zonal marking and the like but in a game of footnball you have to bust a gut sometimes and we ain't doing it. Both Grrard and Alonso aren't doing anywhere near enough graft for a central midfielder for me, while Pennant sits in his little comfort pocket on the touchline and doesn't get involved in the play. Neither full-back is prepared to track centrally and back themselves to recover their position, and we are playing in lines.
Half time in this game requires a bit of tea cups I would have thought. The whole team with the exception of the centre-halves and Babel (who continues to improve IMHO) need a rocket up their erse. They don't need a blackboard, or hand written notes, they need someone to tell them to fecking pull their finger out and do some collar. At the moment, Luton are working 20-30% harder than Liverpool which is cancelling out almost all the gulf in quality. Laziness never wins football matches.
