I just wish Owen would make his mind up and stop messing us about. If he does not want to be part of the club then that is fine but we all need to think about next season. I think we have enough fire power with out Owen to get to where we want to be. Obviously it would be great for him to stay but does he want to be playing in Liverpool any more ?
welcome to the forum cisse2bking, I think Owen is just waiting for us to qualify for the CL as i said have said a number of times. It is not necessarily a case that he doesn't WANT to play for us, he may just be exploring his options and obviously he is interested in interest form 2 of the biggest clubs in the world.
if michael owen was 100% committed to liverpool football club he would have signed already. the fact of the matter is the guy is not worth 90-100k a week, especially if he wants away.
if he wants to leave, then it would be honourable for him to do it now, so we can get a good fee, rather than another McManaman situation. Owen is such a respected figure amongst the fans of our club, that i don't think he would do that.
Yeah thats very true and i can understand his reasons for looking elsewhere but as supporters we just want to see players 100% commited to the cause and not all this uncertanty 4 days before the start of the season. Let alone the game tonight. I just think that if he wanted to explore other options he should have done before now. If he had left 4 weeks ago we may have had some sort of replacment for him by now (if thats possible)
most fans who slag owen off have short memories. the guy has been in an average team at best over the last couple of years but has still scored over 40 goals. when he was supposedly "at his peak" in 2001 everything was going for him. he scored 29 goals in 25 games including two in the fa cup final and a hatrick for england in munich. he was then valued at about 30 million.
however, all in all, if fans had a choice between gerrard staying or owen staying, i think i know who most would choose.
With Michael Owen sitting out the Reds' Champions League qualifier against AZ Graz, speculation is mounting that a move to Real Madrid is imminent for Liverpool's number 10. However, Madrid have denied that they want to sign Michael Owen, claiming their only transfer target is Patrick Viera. "Only Vieira interests us at the moment." said Real assistant sporting director Emilio Butragueno.
