Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Postby ivor_the_injun » Sun Jan 13, 2008 1:22 am

I think a good start would be to put out a starting 11 where absolutely everybody is in their best position. Riise at left mid just has to stop, and if Kewell is able to walk he should be starting. Likewise, if Pennant is available again, get him on the right pronto.

Arbeloa has been a blessing more than a curse for us, but in fairness he's much better at right back, so get Riise or Aurelio in there on the left if available, regardless of form. As for up front, I'd have Babel and Benayoun ahead of Kuyt and Voronin up there at the moment. Benayoun has excelled in the sort of Garcia role there before at West Ham and at international level, and I'd argue that he's more at home there than on the right. Quite what's happened to Crouch I have no idea, but the way his squadmates have fared recently you have to hope his turn comes around sharpish.

Start with people familiar with their positions, and address every other failing as they arise. If we go out with a template side that actually has a structure, we'll fare far better in fixtures like away at Boro. I'm firmly behind Rafa long term, but there's no question that some of his selection decisions away from home this season have been misguided to say the least.

As it is if we win our game in hand we are 9 points behind the top two. Is there any hope still or am I just clutching at straws?

If your auntie had balls she would be your uncle. Time to face facts, this squad simply isnt good enough. Too much average and not enough quality. Hyypia, Finnan, Riise, Aurelio, Sissoko, Pennant, Benayoun, Kewell, Kuyt and Voronin simply not good enough.

We have a crux of quality there like Carragher, Gerrard, Torres, Alonso, Mascherano, Reina, Ager etc..we need to have 11 quality players. Can Rafa bring them in I dont know?

What I do know is each year will pass unless Rafa or whoever the manager may be gets rid of the average players in the squad and the americans give the manager the money to go out and bring in top class players.

Somehow I cant see it happening and wont see the Premiership at Anfield for a few years at least. Anyone who thinks otherwise is deluding themselves :(

Hope of winning the title this season? I think we have absolutely no chance whatsoever. Zero point zero percentage chance. If it was only one team to chase there would some type of possibility, but three teams I'm afraid mate means it is a bit of a straw clutch to be perfectly honest. Finishing second would be extremely optimistic in my opinion, and even third very unlikely.

No hope whatsoever.

These are our priorities:

- A vitally important need to finish 4th.
- The Champions League match vs Inter

Benitez makes it hard for ppl like me to back him when he plays Voronin instead of Crouch...... Riise ahead of Babel...... Arbeloa at left back ....... constantly chopping a changing..........
What is his problem with Crouch , it borderline malicious................. lucas levia recently said crouch makes everyone laugh in training and is great fun , well he is very good player too -who knows where the goal is.... I cannot for the life of me see why it is not crouch and torres upfront all the time ROTATION IS THE BIGGEST LOAD OF nonsense everAND BENITEZ WILL CREDITED IN THE HISTORY BOOK 4 INVENTING IT!!!! all this plus the boring football and now 1 1/2months of poor results   will obviously get ppl calling for his head.......... FOR GOD SAKE IF HE WAS MANAGER OF TESCO IN MY TOWN HE WOULD HAVE BEEN GIVEN THE CHOP ALONG TIME AGO , NEVER MIND LFC!

You are right, but I think there is a lot more belief now that we will get a cup run and fourth place, than there was before he came.

Now i don't want to get into another debate on rotation ,because i think it's gone beyond that now. Something and i honestly don't know what is seriously wrong . Infact put it down to what you want and i'll be happy to concede the point . What i'm seriously worried about now is getting 4th place and getting some fighting spirit into our team .How can so many players be out of form or not even trying to fight for form ? How has this team gone from murdering pompey to such terrible performances in the last 6 or so games ?

Has the manager lost the dressing room ? maybe . Has all the speculation over rafa's job got to the whole team? possibly.  If this is so , where is the fight gone ,where is the pulling together and trying to sort it out , it's just not happening and it's puzzeling me .

For the first time in a few season's now i'm beginning to worry where we are going as a team and a club. It really isn't helping matters when there is complete silence from the top , i mean even if G+H came out and said we are playing cr@p and rafa's got until the end of the season to sort it out ,atleast we'd all know where we stand , but nothing , absolutely nothing .  :no

Did i really post that sh!te ?   We'll be alright once the Arabs take over, i feel better already just thinkng about it. Back on with the rose tinted specs methinks. :D

Would be good with DIC taking over but I guarantee they would replace Rafa in the summer if not sooner. My bet would be that we get Mourinhio and a stack of cash like he had at Chavski and then glory days are back :-) Buying the league, yeah so what  :eyebrow

If mourinho becomes our mananger i will never accept him , i would rather never watch a match again than accept him as our manager. No class, self obsessed tw@t that he is. Feckin Shankly and Paisley would turn in there graves if he ever came anywhere near this great club . NO CHANCE .

FA Cup?

A consolation prize.

It'd be nice to win it again, but really it's the Prem and CL that are the main focus.

It's a shame because the FA Cup used to be special.

It's fallen victim like the Cup Winners Cup, the Milk Cup and the UEFA Cup to the monster called the Champions League.

they would also be turning in there grave after rafa gave up a game at reading with 20 mins to go.
