Strong line-up today....

Peter Crouch and Dirk Kuyt will lead the line as Liverpool boss Rafael Benitez rings the changes for this afternoon's clash at Luton Town.
Sami Hyypia returns from injury and will partner Jamie Carragher at the heart of the Reds' defence, who skippers the side in the absence of Steven Gerrard, while there also starts for Charles Itandje, Lucas Leiva, Ryan Babel and Xabi Alonso.

Youngster Jack Hobbs is on the bench alongside Nabil El Zhar and David Martin as Liverpool look for a repeat of the third round triumph they secured over the Hatters back in 2006.

The Liverpool team in full: Itandje, Finnan, Riise, Carragher, Hyypia, Lucas, Alonso, Benayoun, Babel, Crouch, Kuyt. Subs: Martin, Hobbs, Mascherano, El Zhar, Voronin.

How do you figure  ???

Yeah, Mr ghostbuster ?

lol.

Just going by the TV in truth, It looks like he is not getting any money so he will be off.

oh and its also on the back of all the newspapers.

But aren't these rumours about Rafa leaving in the summer and not at this point? Only asking as I have heard or read no such thing myself.

Isnt his contract up in the summer? I cant see him signing a new contract unless he is given significant spending power in the summer again.

No Bav, he signed a five year deal, so that would be summer 2009 his contract will be up (his time may be up this summer :D )

going by sky today they seem to think thi will be his last game.

I can not see this myself and i feel if he walks or gets the sack it will be after the next CL game.

I dont think the result of todays game will have nothing to do with the fate of our Manager.

all the reports come from "A close friend of Benitez"

"Rafa wants to stay but now he believes he will be sacked because the owners have not shown they will back him."

that is what sky have picked up on and the news of the world.

Mourinho 'keen on Benitez's job'

Duncan Castles
Sunday January 6, 2008
The Observer

Jose Mourinho is growing increasingly restless in his search for a return to management and, after possible openings at Real Madrid and Barcelona failed to materialise, is monitoring the position of Rafa Benitez at Liverpool. If the Spaniard pays the price for failing to keep the Reds in serious contention for the Premier League title, then the former Chelsea boss would be interested in talking to the club's American owners.
There has been no approach to Mourinho by the Americans, but Hicks and Gillett are understood to be actively considering replacement managers and are well aware of the abilities of the Portuguese, who discussed becoming Liverpool manager before joining Chelsea in 2004. Asked last night to comment on the pair's interest in employing Mourinho, Hicks declined.
