Perhaps even sadder, mate, is the fact that we still need him. The Best 11 thread demonstrated that he would still be most people's choice to start at LM if fit--an amazing position given that he's played in what, 2-3 games for us in the last year and half? Now, we can chalk some of that up to the "grass is always greener" syndrome but, really, it is a massive indictment of our current crop of options at LM is it not?
FWIW, I would not play him against Everton if he truly is fit. I'd get him in the reserves to get some match sharpness and, once that's achieved, give him a go. No need to throw him in at the deep end and give the lads one more thing to think about on derby day.

Neither would i Jason. He'd probably finish up on the treatment table after anyway..
Yep. LM is something of a millstone around Rafa's neck for a while now. Babel aint the answer...Leto, isn't ready - though there are encouraging signs. Riise is sporadic, Aurelio like Kewell, is unreliable. Rotating Pennant/Gerrard out there fleetingly during a game is a stop gap. 4-3-3 with Torres or Babel playing off to the left of a front line, might be one solution. Idk.

I don't think he's deliberately getting injured, having numerous operations, fighting his way back to fitness again, just for fun and a wage packet. He has had a lot of injuries that have ruined his career, surely he deserves a little sympathy rather than abuse.
I am sure he never planned to lose 2 years of his career when he signed for us. Or for his Liverpool career to be put in jepody like this. These things happen in football, either he starts to play out of his skin with no further injuries or he will be moved on. I think he will be moved on myself, but I live in hope that miracles can happen and he returns to form and fitness. Either way I think he deserves a little more respect.

Nor am I so cynical as to believe that players milk their injuries to collect a wage packet.
