Whoever plays in the centre away from home is clearly restricted by tactics, so Gerrard playing in the centre at Anfield is different to Gerrard playing in the centre away, no matter who his partner is.

hey our blip was because he was injured, dont you know that    :D

the fact all our great results were without him and the fact that he came back yesterday and we struggled to beat the bottom club should not cloud your judgment     :D

I just dont understand how Alonso is our "most important player" Reina, Carra, Mascha, Gerrard and Torres are more important than Alonso IMHO, we havent missed him. Now though, with him back we run the risk of fecking up our best CM pairing who have been generally brilliant over the last few months or so.

I admit I wouldn't swop any of them for Alonso, but it does give us the option of playing Gerrard on the right and keeping Bigmick happy and his mind off rotation  :D

I agree with you on one point and one point only Xavi is not OUR most important player.
But thats it im afraid because imo he is one of them, The lad has vision for playing a ball and to feet like very few in the prem. Its not liverpool getting rid of the ball or lumping it up the park when hes on the pitch and yes i do believe hes a better passer of the ball than Masherano, im not saying hes a better player cause theve each got there own individual strenghts.

But you cant blame our poor performance on Alonsos pairing in the middle with Gerrard yesterday because i thought Alonso played fine for his first start . The team played :censored: as a unit
Anyway i for one am glad to see him back

Is this our first fight treacle

I just don't see why you would leave a player of the quality of either Gerrard, Mascherano or Alonso on the bench when they offer such different qualities and Gerrard is so much more than just a central midfielder.

he is more mate but why weaken him by playing him on the right just so we can get alonso and mash in the team, that doesnt make sense, of course i know some people say he is better on the right so to them this will work.

its all opinions mate

See and everyone thinks they can do a better job than Rafa

Options Options

We could argue till the cows came home if Gerrard should play here or there, if  it should be  Masher or Alonso but at the end of the day we dont pick the team Rafa does, end of

passes             85                                71

shots                3                                 2
clearances         0                                 6

The reason Gerrard may have been below par could be the fact that both he and Torres were recovering from food poisoning.

I don't care what the stats say......Mashcherano rocks...(pun fully intended)...

He should start in central midfield for all our league matches (if we have any title aspirations)....

No I assure you Nanny this isnt our first fight, treacle.  :D

I agree with you about Alonso's passing abilities, but even at times against Derby his passing and his tackling was way off. But once he's had a few games under his belt I'm sure he'll get better.

And again your right our WHOLE team performance was s.hit, we didnt play as a unit. But our midfield was overun at times by a team firmly rooted to the bottom of the table. I dont think this would of been the outcome if Mascha had been playing, IMO he has MUCH MORE of a presence in Midfield than Alonso has, and Derby wouldnt of had the time on the ball to overun the midfield.

In saying that its each to there own, in preference of a "holding" midfielder. I prefer the more orthadox style of the Hammans, Makelalee's and the Mascherano's of this world. To the likes of the Alonso's and the Carricks.

)Some ppl are just too "thick" to understand.....

Our best run of form this season was with a Gerrard & Mash Combo.....Anyone who thinks otherwise deserve to be shot (hey....who am i imitating here....  :p )
