I dont care if we scrape a win if we play badly or lose if we dominate the game. I care about consistency, discipline and about our own performance. If you just focus to perform on your part, the rest will be fine.
BTW, i prefer to win 1-0 all the games. Not losing 0-1 and win 8-0 the next game
It's really Rafa's job now to enforce consistency

Christmas time, normal jobs, how many people are phoning in sick? and what can the manager do? The manager can only do so much to get the best out of his staff, but if those people who are present are not at there best how can that lay at the door of the manager?

Peewee the players were absolute :censored:

today everyone of them yep ok Torres scored a quality goal and Stevie coverd the pitch for his goal but apart from that nothing

You could of had Pele playin for us today and still we would of had a bad performance

ASi said in one of my posts before you have to give some credit to Paul Jewell hes got Derby fighting for there lives we were never gonna beat them again by a big score and a lot of teams who play them now wont find it easy but so far this Chrimbo 2 games 6 points what more do you want

how about 6 points and a team that looks like they know what they are doing

lets not get too excited about the 6 points, we played derby today ffs, firmly at the bottom of the table and 3 points should be a guarantee for any team with title aspirations, we made hard work of it and were very very close to 2 dropped points again.

sorry nanny, you know i am scouse, you know i love the club, but at the moment i just dont see us going forward, we get a few good results and then take a step backwards

Peewee mate, I'm not making any excuses, yes we were dire and yes we were cr@p at times, but then again when you look at the starting eleven (lets take a look at the same eleven that beat marsielles 4-0 and lost 1-0 to Manc, considering the fact that there was no changes), shows really that our starting eleven isn't yet good enough to win us the league. It just proves at times that some of our players are not title winning players! Some may be good squad players and others are just cr@p.

Yes, Torres is our only star striker and he needs to get rid of kuyt, crouch and voronin or else we will rely too much on Torres ( Then again we ask ourselves this, what would happen if Torres gets injured?).

I trust Rafa's tactics, he gets it most of the times and I don't think its down to bad tactics and all that (ok dropping key players is a silly decision), All I think we are still not good enough in the domestic front and we need Rafa to start concentrating on buying [/b]quality[/b]

Do you think when The boring 1-0 to the Arsenal team were winning and beating the bottom teams 1-0 do you think the manager and the fans were unhappy nah i dont think so they were made up with the 3 points we played poor but we won .

A poor performance but the right result.

As Arsenal proved today and more so at the weekend that playing badly and then winning is what really matters.

Today's game doesn't alter my viewpoint that we won't win the League and why should it. We are not playing anywhere near Arsenal's level in terms of the quality of the play.

Fortunatley we have 2 world class players in Torres and Stevie G who can conjure something from the abyss when the game quality is as poor as it was today.

Sunday's game at City will say more about our intent going into the New Year than today's game at Derby. I'll be there so hope to provide an after match summary.................. let's hope its better than some of the after match comments from Derby !

1)No more Alonso and Gerrard Midfield combo (derby were over-running us)
2)Keep Riise at LB..... Auerlio is a worse LB than Riise

4)Kewell, Gerrard, Torres, Carra, Mash and Benayoun(Pennant) have to start all our league games....doesn't matter if we play against wigan or fulham. The other players are not good enough to replace them.

Agree completely with you post mate...a consistent team selection will bring us consistent results...we should have a spine of about 8 or 9 players who are undroppable.

Reina, Finnan, Carra, Agger, Riise, Benayoun, Mascherano, Alonso, Gerrard, Kewell, Torres...That team should play week win week out...also using Hyypia, Arbeloa, Babel, Sissoko and Crouch as alternatives for players who are either injured or suspended.

Once again, despite not having their best games, theose two have provided our real pieces of quality in the game. They just can't be left out under any circumstances. I've criticised Gerrard in the past for his leadership (or lack of) but today he really took the bull by the horns in the last 15 minutes and dug us out of the mire again. We are very lucky to have him.

Anyway, 3 points is 3 points and we move on. Credit to Derby by the way. You can see that Jewell has already had an impact there and their attitude was unquestionable. As for their fans though, the less said the better.

Well I didn't see it but by all accounts I didn't miss much. Firstly, thank god again for the captain pulling us out of the sh!te yet again, but once that's said I find some people are going a buit over the top about the performance. Now I know someone will say "how can you comment you didn't even see it", but that's kind of the point. You don't need to see it sometimes, we won so you have a shower, get back on the bus and feck off back home. Feck the performance, we got the points and just like at Villa Park our captain has chipped in with a late goal which was vital.

As for this proving that rotation isn't the problem, I'm not sure I buy that TBH. It may just be coincidence, but in the games recently where we've kept the same team we've played better by all accounts than we did at derby with the rotations, so I think at the very least it's fair to say that changing the team didn't make us play any better on this occasion. Equally, the more the season progresses, that period earlier in the season where we decided to "rest" Torres for consecutive League games is looking more and more like it was a fairly big error given what we now know.

Anyway, we won the game and have gained points on a couple of our rivals. Unfortunately we haven't gained any points on the Mancs who look like pretty much certainties to me, but for now it's head down, bum uip and keep winning. Presumeably (well hopefully anyway) after a few people have had a "rest", we'll return back to something like our best eleven for the next couple of games and the forseeable.

good 2 see that arsenal and chelsea dropped points. plus chelsea's defence is absolutley decimated with injuries/suspensions. they shoiuld drop more points.

we still struggle down our left flank for me though. aurelio is obviously struggling for fitness, so is kewell, babel is not a winger and neither is riise. i for one was really surprised to see aurelio thrown in at left mid with riise at left back. i don't think either are creative enough and if you're going to play them both i'd play them the other way around.

having just watch the highlights on sky, it's also clear that aurelio was at fault for the goal by completely missing a routine header from the free kick. it'll be interesting to see who gets the nod in that position against city.

For Gerrard to play to his potential, he needs Mash behind him.

If Rafa hadn't bought Lucas (8 million) and Babel (11 million)...we could have bought a 19 million star player....but rafa decided to buy quantity instead of quality..and now he is saying we need to buy more 20 million players

books before buying. The owners already have enough problem paying for the stadium....

5)Babel - yeah...i am saying Babel. He is just a forward sissoko. We got rid of cisse for having no brains....well babel is about the same as him.

Players not good enough to represent the club (if we want to have title aspirations).
