Great to see Finnan back.  I thought he'd be out for a lot longer.  I also like  the team.  Rafa's not messing around anymore.

Don't like Alonso and Gerrard Combo...and i certainly don't like Riise on the left and Babel on the right flank ..... (ie...riise is a better LB...and Babel is a striker/forward...not a winger).

Ah well....lets see how it goes....

TORRES AND ALONSO GET BOXING DAY START

Fernando Torres and Andriy Voronin lead the line for the Reds at Derby, while Xabi Alonso makes his first league start since Arsenal in October.

The line up in full is: Reina, Finnan, Aurelio, Carragher, Hyypia, Gerrard, Alonso, Babel, Riise, Voronin, Torres. Subs: Itandje, Benayoun, Lucas, Kuyt, Mascherano.

errard's manager dream
BARCLAYS PREMIER LEAGUE Derby v Liverpool, today, 3pm Gerrard: I'd love to be boss one day - but Carra would be a better choice!
By DAVID MADDOCK 26/12/2007

STEVEN GERRARD has revealed his secret desire to one day be manager of Liverpool.

The Anfield skipper's Christmas wish is to help his side back into the title race by meeting manager Rafa Benitez's demand of winning all their holiday-season games, beginning at Derby today.

But beyond that, the England international believes that should he ever be asked to take the helm at Anfield, it would be the highest honour he could receive.

"How could you ever turn it down? If I was qualified to do it, there's no way I could turn it down because of my bond with the club and the supporters," Gerrard said.

"If the chance came along then it would be an honour to accept it."

Gerrard believes, though, that there may just be a better candidate than him already amongst the Liverpool playing staff.

His close mate Jamie Carragher intends to do his coaching badges in the near future, and the Liverpool skipper believes that his team-mate will one day make a brilliant manager.

"Jamie's got more chance than me of being a top boss. It's in his blood - he loves the game more and studies the game more," Gerrard said.

"I can see he has the qualities to make a brilliant manager - he has so much passion about the game."

Liverpool visit Derby today knowing they must win to maintain even an outside hope of staying in the title race. And they follow that with a trip to Manchester City on Saturday then a home game with Wigan on January 2.

"The manager has told us that if we win all our games over Christmas then anything can happen, because you can pick up or lose a lot of ground around this time," he said.

"We have to come out with 100 per cent points. We aren't out of it. We are not despondent. We've got to keep the pressure on and see where it takes us."

Err... this team should definitely be able to see off Derby... I fail to see why this team should be so bad. I actually expected Rafa to make more changes, so I'm quite made up with the team he's sent out. Come on you red men, just get the expected three points. YNWA.
