well folks, 2007 is nearly over and i have to say that it has absolutely flown by. it's been an up and down year for liverpool fc when you consider what's going on behind the scenes at the moment. it's almost easy to forget that we got to our second champions league final in three years earlier on in the year. here's hoping for a better 2008.

so with regards to on the pitch issues, please vote for your nominations in the following categories.

Ive not been on much this year but id like to vote Manhattan as Joker of the year. I like how he starts a match thread, and still how he referrs to himself in the 3rd person. ha ha you funny :censored:

1) Liverpool player of the year
Would give it to Fernando Torres on recent form but going on 2007 as a whole I'd have to say Mascherano. He has been permanently class whereas players such as Gerrard and Carragher have both had dips in form in 2007 IMHO.

2) Most disappointing player of the year
Momo Sissoko, started so well and now his talent of 'breaking up play' refers to our play more than that of the opposition!

3) Most improved player of the year
Alvaro Arbeloa, not too sure when he came to us but the lad has grown trememdously and is proving he is our best LB and possibly our best RB this season.

4) Best Liverpool performance of the year
Derby at home. Possibly the worst team we have played this year but a great performance from the lads who absolutely ripped the new boys apart.

5) Worst Liverpool performance of the year
Marseille at home. Shocking performance. Thoroughly deserved to lose against a lacklustre french team who are shuyte.

6) Best Liverpool goal of the year
Tough 1... Ryan Babel vs Derby? Torres vs Chelsea? Both technically brilliant goals. Some of Gerrards this season have been belters also.

And for the forum awards:

1) Forum member of the year
I'd have to go for leon. Not always right IMO but a good consistent poster and has proved to be a good mod too.

2) Best thread of the year
I liked 'The Match' thread, cant remember who used to do it but i loved the interviews with the opposing fans and would love to see that start again in the new year.

3) Worst thread of the year
There has been a lot of pointless threads made, in terms of the worst, Id probabaly have to say the Alonso thread.

4) Joker of the year
Manhattan, quality thread starter. Always enjoy reading his posts for example his post about DIC the other day was hilarious.

5) Dispute of the year
Alonso! or Gerrard on the right (although i think that was more last year)

6) Worst rumour of the year
The constant Benitez to go to spain rumours. How many times does the man have to state he is staying!?!

Liverpool player of the year is in terms of abiltiy and contribution, for me probably the same as it will be as long as he's at the club. Gerrard.

Most disappointing player of the year for me is Kuyt. I've gone from being very excited about him after seeing a couple of performances, to hopeful he may make it, to resigned to the fact that he isn't good enough. Such a shame as he'a a nice bloke and a good pro.

Most improved player of the year is probably Reina by a hairs width from Arbeloa. I think over the last twelve months Pepe has improved to the point where most pundits and rival fans would agree that he is the best keeper in the league.

Best performance of the year was probably beating Chelsea at Home in the Champions League. We were 1-0 down, had everything against us and knew that if we conceded we were dead in the water. We didn't and deserved the win. Top effort.

Worst performance of the year was probably the Marseilles one, closely followed by Birmingham at Home.

Best Liverpool goal of the year is a tough one. I kind of like team goals as a rule, and Gerrards equaliser at Reading was well worked. However, Torres's effort at Marseilles was special and nicks the vote.

Forum member of the year for me is Saint. He has been spot on with a couple of his long standing campaigns (creative number ten for example) and seems to fill the role of investigative journalist on here much of the time. He sticks to his guns under fire (like in the "how much have we spent thread") and I can vouch for the fact from personal experience that it is possible to disagree completely with him while still not resorting to insults. A good bloke and a valuable forum member.

Second for me would be the stats man Owzat. Some of his stats of course are total b0ll0cks (that's the ones that don't emphasise the point I'm trying to make obviously), while some of his research brings a rare insight, cutting to the truth in a way which simply cannot be disputed (these are the ones it goes without saying which back up my point of view

). I always enjoy his contributions.

Best thread of the year is easy. It is of course the rotation thread, where flags are stapled to the mast at varying hieghts. Soon we will be able to revisit the whole subject and see who was right or wrong all along. That is of course if Rafa doesn't continue with his three out of the last four matches with an unchanged team. How the feck are we supposed to argue about it if he stops doing it FFS?

Worst thread of the year would probably be one of mine but I can't remember which.

Joker of the year is Manhatten, closely followed by Judgey, then Dawson and I must say I enjoy Woollybacks contributions as well. Leon rarely attempts to be funny these days since he's wearing the stripes, but occasionally he does crack me up "reality check, it's the internet and nobody can hear you" :laugh:

Dispute of the year is Peewee and Lando. When I was modding I never really got involved in this one. Unlike most spats, they are both well capable of trading insults with the best of em and I simply used to let 'em get on with it. The standard fallback position of each though cracks me up, the "ladyboy lover" versus the "burger flipper"

Classic.

Worst rumour of the year is Klinnsman coming in as manager. Not worst because it's got no truth in it, just worst because it is. I'd take Mourinho (and that's saying something) over the German any day.

Has to Arbeloa not that he has improved too much, he has been consistent enough it just that he is improving bit by bit match by match.Very cool player.

4) Best Liverpool performance of the year.

Has to be the win in Marseilles (even tho the win away to PSV in the QF champions league run it close) in which was a near on perfection game fgor us.

5) Worst Liverpool performance of the year

Like wise the home game against Marseille.

6) Best Liverpool goal of the year

Can't think of one at the mo, probally Torres away at marseille where he danced around there defence in the area.

1) Gerrard. Although with Torres we now have someone who might actually challenge him in the next few years.

2) Kuyt. Just not good enough despite all his efforts. Shame. I'm also disappointed in Sissoko who also seems to have gone backwards rather than kicked on.

3) Most improved is Mascherano. Very solid for us despite a dodgy start in English football with West Ham. Some say Arbeloa - for me he's always been a good player, but for some reason he's only just started to get the credit he deserves.

4) Best performance was Marseille 4-0. Tough game which we had to produce the goods in. A performance that Rafa himself described as 'almost flawless'.

5) Worst performance was Besiktas away for me, but there have been a few to be honest.

6) My favourite goal was Babel V Newcastle - 20-odd passes without Newcastle touching the ball finished off with a great one-two and finish between Babel and Gerrard. Torres V Marseille was a great individual goal and Gerrard has scored so many spectacular efforts it's almost routine.

...as for the forum awards I've not really been on here much in the last year to comment, but there are plenty of good posters around these days and it's always a good read when I get the chance. Keep it up!

Arbeloa? I'd say Lucas though. Very young, yet very good. Very much on the up. Very kool kid.

4) Best Liverpool performance of the year 4-0 away win over Marseille. Withstood the pressure of the clash and wat a loss or draw would hold and thumped them 4-0.

5) Worst Liverpool performance of the year
Man U was woeful, as was Marseille at Anfield

6) Best Liverpool goal of the year
Kuyt's penalty vs Chelsea

1) Don't know if Torres can really be eligible for this, because he has only been playing since August, I am sure a lot of votes will go to Stevie or Cara, so I will vote for Reina great performance against Chelsea in the semis

2) Riise and Kuyt split. Riise because he actually had a good pre-season but I don;t think he scored a goal in the year 2007 in the league. (did score with his RIGHT against Barca though, and against PSV in the quarters). Kuyt has been a waste of time and money, the fact that he lead the team in goals in the prem last season is reflection on how poor we were.

3) I see a lot of people voting for Arbeloa on here and on the official for this award. Not sure I understand that because he is a knew player and people just never heard of him. Although he has improved over the course of the year, he came in straight away and played well (out of position) Not sure if its supposed to go to who's 2007 season had the biggest increase from their 2006 campaign, or who improved the most over the course of the 2007 season, because those are different questions. I think my vote will go to Agger. Some might say that is just natural development from him getting older, wiser, more experienced, etc. But you can't just wake up one day and be better he had to put in the time.

4) 2-1 at the Nou Camp,

5) Loss to Reading 3-1. I know the real answer is Marseille, but Rafa picked a terrible team, and our two best players gave away silly fouls that lead to 2 of their goals, the other big clubs had just dropped points and we failed to make up ground

6) Torres vs. Chelsea or Pennant vs. Chelsea (what a way to get your first goal for the club)

1) Sabre, the Johnny Depp of the good ship Pro

2) The "Tactics" Thread and the unspeakable R word too. I also really enjoyed the oppo threads, and hope those come back as well as a loan update version of it

5) don't really read disputes, just kinda skip over 'em cuz its the internet. to be fair, im not really one for real life disputes either.

6) The rumor that we were going to sign Torres, Tevez, Mancini, and Simao all to be signed within a 10 day period. and this was after Torres had agreed in principle, I think it was just put in there to make it sound more "credible" I still don't understand why we didn't go after Tevez harder, I thought Mascherano was going to try and recruit him.
