LIVERPOOL VS CHELSEA - League cup

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Postby puroresu » Wed Dec 19, 2007 11:42 pm

to many of our players wouldnt get a near a Utd, chelsea or arsenal squad.  We have some players who seem to lack the fundamentals.  Tonight shouldnt be about Rafa not playing torres or Mascherano. It should be about out so called new squad being equipped to play on all fronts.  The reality is our squad lacks depth. not in numbers but in quality. Vorninin, Yossi, Aurelio, Sissoko, Crouch are all deadwood.

Rather than some of the :censored: out there tonight I would rather had a look at all this kids we signed.

Maybe we should employ Sagna member of the Collywolly Tribe with his spagetti hair doo?

if it wasn't for him we wouldn't even have got to this stage.

Nabil El Zhar gave Liverpool the lead in this fourth-round tie with a long-range thunderbolt on 48 minutes.

Dont forget to add riise, and kuyt to that list......I dont think rafa really took this tie seriously....that starting line up said it all to me, he was obviously using it to gauge what depth he has in the squad I feel sorry for the fans who forked out money to travel that far just to see one of rafa's experemental teams  I thought he lost the plot tonight? why take off babel?....a very strange substitution.

been watchin reds for best part of 30 years and i just dont see how people can continually defend some of the managers decisions.

Well I've been accused of some things in my time but fecking hell  Look fella I don't defend the manager when I think he's made a mistake, but what he did tonight was ultra-sensible in my opinion. What if he had played his strongest team and we had got done 2-0, or one of the best players had got injured? It would have been ridiculous.

Playing Torres away at reading in the Carling Cup while "resting" him in two consecutive Premiership fixtures in the same period was ridiculous. "resting" him here when he has just come off the back of two games, one of which was Away to arseilles and the other of which was at Home to Man Utd was an obvious, and a sensible move.[/quote]
i wasn't talking about torres etc not playing. i was talking about his decisions in general. why did he take our main threat babel off instead of sissoko whos only good for fouling and 5 yard passes?! and why did he briefly play babel up front on his own with voronin out wide?! benitez seems to do the opposite to what everybody thinks should happen. does he get some sort of kick from it?

Maybe because Babel wasnt threatening anyone?

lol.
i agree though although he wasn't threatening at the time all we needed was one ball over the top and he has pace to beat any1 and get a scrappy goal.
anyways....weve lost 2-0 were out of the best cup in the europe liverpool are finished! sack benitez.
on a serious note, weve lost 2-0 its not the end of the world and i wasn't expecting a win with the line up we had. lets just win on sat!

Joke what you want mate but you cant fault his methods. Ther kids played us of the park at home last season twice in the space of a few days. That 6-2 was probabaly one of the lowest points ive ever felt as a Liverpool fan. Wenger can certainely pick the right players. Hes got it wrong aswell on a few occasions but more often than not he gets it right.

... and that is what I mean those young players got in them, pride.

Proud just to be in the team with a winning habit when $$$ is not the main concern. Unlike us, we need to cough out filthy weekly pay cheques in order to buy 'pride' for our club. Where have our rich tradition of winning 'all cups' gone today?

Out the window to change with the times. Has to be done. There's so much money involved in the game today that it can't be helped, sadly. Priority is the two big competitions now, the ECL and EPL.

For to long now we have had players who dont realise how lucky they are playing for LFC.  To many of them have limited talent yet they play for the greatest club in the land.
