The football games - Do you think it would be cool if . . .

I was sitting around thinking one day and came up with an idea for an international event/competition It would involve countries picking squads of around 35 or so to compete in 5 different sports against each other: Football, Gaelic football, Rugby, Aussie Rules Football, and American Football.

I would think it would involve England, Ireland, New Zealand, Australia, and the US (and I guess any other country that would want to or could field a team).  But each match against each country would really be a 5 match series

It would be a great way to bring exposure of the "other forms of football" to the different English speaking parts of the world.  People could develop an appreciation for the skill set of each sport and admire the versatility of the competing athletes.  Of course, it would have to start out as a purely amateur event, but it would be quite interesting to see the seleciton process if it got so big that all the top althetes wanted to play in it, given that there would have to be overlap of footballers playing gaelic football or rugby players playing American football.  One thing for certain is that the quarterback would probably have to be an actual American quarterback specialist 1) couldn't risk injury 2) no general athlete could just pick up the position due to the sophisticaiton and unique skill set.

thoughts?

<Wind up, but tongue in cheek>

JoeTerp, if it's about to show the skills of football, how come you limit it to english speaking countries? to see really skillfull football you should bring some Mediterranean guys.

Seriously I'm quite a football radical and I don't rate many other variants, but I might buy some pop corn if those games were organised, and watch it. It would be amusing.

I did say that all other countries would be invited just not sure if you can find enough ppl in Spain who know how to play all the sports that all.  Plus for the other 4 sports, they require a bit of toughness that I am not sure the Mediterranean people could take  :D

I think Benitez would be a good choice to manage the Spanish Football Games team.  It would be the ultimate test of rotation :D
