The whole game had maybe 3 half chances, 2 for us and 1 for them. Get a grip......... Rafa is - like it or not - headin the right way, clearin out dross and attemptin to bring in top players. Yes, I doubt players like Voronin will ever qualify as top player material, but the pot aint bottomless and sometimes you make do.
Arbeloa had Ronaldo sewed up thruout, and but for a little more luck we'd have been 2 up at half time.
This aint a bad side, maybe the best we've had in a helluva long time, so wind ur necks in those who wanna rip it apart and start again - thats gonna put us another 3-4 years behind.........again! We dropped 3 points, admittedly the worst scenario we could imagine, but thats all it is. The world will not finish tonight, unless Hicks and Gillette decide Rafa has to go!!

maybe we will wake up tomorrow with no manager

You dont like what has been our best surprise player of the season, a player who kept out ronaldo who rips apart the world best defenders, a player than can play anywhere across the back 4
Tell me an avarage player that can do that?

I think after this game Rafa will realize what he should do the rest of the way Which is to play their strongest team consistently with minimal changes. I think Man Scum didn't have a good game as well. People here saying we don't have any wingers and neither do the Man Scum. We just lost by a set play. I don't see them ever overpowering us in anyway today. When we couldn't score at the beginning when they got mixed up with Van der sar and vidic, i had that feeling again and unfortunately it came true. Anyway, let's see what happened after meeting with the big boss. We were just out of gas and the mid game was the reason for us not to sustain the full match.

I thought our passing was woeful at times, and the boys looked nervous playing against United. Recently in more games than not the passing has been crisp and fluent, I thought at times yesterday they felt the ball was like a hot potato. Credit to United who defended in numbers, and were tough to break down, Gerrard needs to perform and put himself about against the other big three teams more. Torres never really got a look in, I think Man U snuffed him out the game and the service to him was non-exsistant.
On a brighter note I actually thought Ryan Babel looked very positive when he came on.
KennyisGod....still wrote:I believe the ideas we lack could be righted if Ryan Babel gets a little more pitch time. He looked confident comin on today, tried a few times to take a few on - somethin we didnt do most of the match - and seemed t be capable of doin some damage. I aint sure he's a starter type player (tho I guess he's paid for 90+ minutes?) but he sure seems a damn fine sub to call in if required. Slowly comin round to thinkin he could be a good investment, but jus wish he could show it now!!

our wingers just aint up the standard in big games
ive noticed it a few times and today was another example
players like kewell and benayoun are good in any other game but against the best teams they aint good enough
giggs and ronaldo are in a diffrent league to our wingers
bigmick wrote:I can't really understand why people are criticising the defense today, I thought we were absolutely excellent again. We didn't concede a clear cut chance and Rooney, Tevez and Ronaldo won't be kept as quiet as that all season. The goal wouldn't have happened if Benayoun had got his erse off the post, and all in all you won't see a better defensive performance against United all season.

On the evidence of today match, it does prove that LFC, will not and cannot win the league this season or in the next 5-6 seasons to come, while LFC is still under the management of the idiot Benitez. So far we have played the top three teams, and we failed to score a win against all of them, this does prove that our team selection and tactic were totally wrong!!!. The team that Benitez had selected for today's top match was wrong, with two liability players (Kewell & Kuyt) were selected from the start, and it was down to Kewell's mistake, led to a corner, and we were out done by it and eventually led to wining goal of the match, and it took almost three quarter of the match for Benitez to realize that he made a mistake with his selection, and replaced both player with Babel and Crouch, where he should have in fact started the match with Crouch along side Torres, and Babel on lift wing.
I always remember, the past maters of LFC managers had selected their inform players for their top matches when they were available at the time, but here we see the clever and the most negative LFC's manager, select the liability players ahead of inform players!!!!, Kuyt, should never be a fist team players ahead of Crouch or Babel, as for Kewell, who lives on his old reputation since his days at Leeds, he has not proved his place in LFC at all, he has been less than an average player dogged with injuries!!!. "WASTE OF TIME AND MONEY". Kuyt is the first player LFC should get rid off in January transfer window, along with Voronin, and not Crouch.
I have said many times that Benitez chances of winning the league, is totally beyond him, and the last two league defeats, so far is not the last, many defeats in the near future is still to come, today's defeat is a big set back, and if Benitez still remain in charge, LFC, will not finish fourth this season, as for winning the league, let us be serious, and kiss it goodbye! I cannot see it happening, it is between Chelsea, and M. United, with Arsenal the dark horse!.
I just do not understand why so many of LFC's fans back the negative Benitez so much, I do understand he had won some trophies OK, top trophies in the past, and he had won those trophies with less equipped and weaker squads of players, but the last season he had bought badly, and last summer, he had bought some very good players, but he does not how to use them, those good players do not fit his negative tactics, there is big conflict of many issues in his on mind. Benitez could not add more successes to his old glories, it has been two years without any serious attempt on the premier league.
I still doubt very much Benitez's ability to win the premier league for LFC.
