great to see kuyt get on the score sheet with a 'proper' goal - not a point blank header, not a bounce of the shin, and not a penalty. hopefully he will remember that he can indeed kick the ball past a keeper in a one on one type situation from a few yards out. i thought he took it pretty well because he had plenty of time to think about it which often seems one of his biggest problems. if him and torres can continue feeding of each other like that then we have a potentially excellent partnership (and one that benitez would be crazy to change come sunday).

what strikes me though is that its difficult to speak just of the front two now with the return of kewell. if he isn't consistently feeding the strikers he's up there with them becoming an extra danger in and around the box and i find the growing understanding between him and torres in particular to be pretty damned exciting. he's not back to his best but he's a breath of fresh air and i hope all the legions of kewell bashers and doubters will give him just one more chance.

as far as the draw goes, as long as we avoid inter, madrid or sevilla (who are a very good side) i'll be happy. weirdly enough - on current form - barca and milan could be there for the taking.

Nailed on - we're gettin AC Milan, thought that from the end of last years final that we'd draw them this year in a "rubber match" of sorts. Play the way we did last night and we can play them all at the same time and trounce them, performance was that good

Rodrigez and Givet should contact the court of human rights - Torres tortured them that much

Bad Bob wrote:On Torres, apart from the breath-taking goal, I loved the move where he had the defender one on one well outside the box and did that glide step of his before knocking the ball long.  Your first thought is, 'he's overcooked that touch', but then you see him burning past the defender and latching on.  I thought he'd lobbed the keeper beautifully to finish it off but, alas, it was not to be.  Still, the lad is a monster now...I can't wait until he settles! :buttrock

Brilliant move Bob
Can you imagine though the lad is a monster now whats he gonna be like when he does settle :nod its frightening but brilliant cause he wears the red shirt,

When you think it took Drogbar and.Henry a season to settle the lads just proving money well spent. I must be honest i never thought he would be this good this soon . But i think now were actualy talking about another legend in the making at Anfield and hes still only a baby

said it before, football is a simple game complicated by idiots (like rafa at times) :D. sometimes he thinks too much about games. last night he just went back to basics, played 4-4-2 with two wide men and we won comfortably.

I've just seen the game and the boys put in a solid performance in Marseille. I'm still gutted at the three points lost at Reading but at least Rafa got this selection right. What I thought helped us, was their crowd, very noisy and what not, seemed like a real loud atmosphere, which was supposed to get behind their team. I think it pumped the Marseille players right up, which made the tempo of the game 'typically English'. To which continental teams generally dont do, and to try and beat an English team at their own style of game is Ni-on impossible.

Kewell had a good game, very happy with his workrate TBH helping out JAR in his defensive duties, infact the team allround worked hard for eachother. And Torres ! What a player he is.

Hope the team is similar to that fac ing  the Mancs on the weekend, Sissoko IMO shouldnt been in the team for United. He'll lose way too much possession against United.

I'd field this team to face United, note ONE CHANGE

                               Reina

         Finnan      Carra      Hyypia      Arbeloa

         Benayoun  Gerrard   Mascha     Kewell

Torres   Kuyt  ( I'd even stick with the dutchman upfront!)

Hello Liverpool Fans!

Excuse me know I read in English but I do not know much so I write a translator google.
Congratulations on your victory in Marseille, I am a fan of Olympique Marseille but I recognize my defeat.

Your team was well above both tactical and at the technical level, our team has not existed we were pathetic and even ridiculous.
Never English club had won the Velodrome stadium, but so far since Tuesday Liverpool has changed the situation.
I do not wish to call into question your victory, I just think that if players Marseillais had been more combative, we would never have lost 4-0, this season our players have no pride they have dropped the arm after 15 minutes that's what is annoying fans of the OM.
Even being more combative, I think we would have lost when same, but not in this way.
Torres is a great player he was applauded by fans of OM in its release.
Gerrard was magnificent in this game, probably one of the best players in the world.

Liverpool is a great team, the club has a track record that makes European club any French jealous and envious.
If you add up the charts of all French clubs, they n'égaleront no winners Liverpool, only acknowledge that any Same not fighting on equal terms since the Bosman judgment.
For years the best French players are no longer in France, a French club can not afford to recruit Fernando Torres, there was not even kept Drogba in 2004 which left for Chelsea.
Even Lyon failed to keep Essien, Malouda or Abidal.

I think ultimately there are 2 kinds of football clubs on the one hand and national teams from the other.

Please, do not insult the French because frankly it becomes ridiculous, I am French but I hate to eat frogs and French died in fighting against the Nazis, they are french who resisted I say that because I read on this forum about quite shocking about this.

Finally, I see 4 teams capable of winning the Champions League:
Milan, Arsenal, Barcelona and Liverpool.

Good luck for the future.

Finally, it would be nice on your part to beat Manchester Utd and breaking the leg of this dancer Cristiano Ronaldo, I hate this dirty cheater, I will be behind Liverpool.

Hello from a French.

Nice words mon ami.

Right - last 16 , job done - one game in mind now and its not this one. CL will return in the late winter - for now, bring on Manchester United and lets put some myths to bed.
