Other than Barnes and Litmanen, I can't think of any player from our recent history that could've done that. Absolutely top drawer.

Must admit I was thinking of the Premiership era, but yeah - both good shouts.

Torres reminds me of a young Mcmanaman the way he glides past players as if they wernt there. Obviously he's a better finisher :D

The thing that keeps catching me out is exactly how fast he's moving. He's making up yards on defenders at will, but it all looks so effortless for him that you almost feel sorry for them.

Almost, but not quite.

Superb performance.

Babel's goal reminded Manhattan of the "goal" Pele missed.

On Torres, apart from the breath-taking goal, I loved the move where he had the defender one on one well outside the box and did that glide step of his before knocking the ball long.  Your first thought is, 'he's overcooked that touch', but then you see him burning past the defender and latching on.  I thought he'd lobbed the keeper beautifully to finish it off but, alas, it was not to be.  Still, the lad is a monster now...I can't wait until he settles! :buttrock

Torres is ok I suppose, but we could have saved a couple of million and got Darren Bent instead. :D

Haha  :D

The worst part is that I probably said something like that.

Torres is a bloody beast!

I'll admit ive been one of the few who have not been impressed with his form during the season. My biggest complaint being that he only performs when there is a cup involved but since I bitched about it he has stood up and showed his worth and rammed my words down my throat. I hope this attitude continues until the end of the season. He isnt as vocal as other captains but on form he doesnt need to be, his actions speak louder than words.

Torres is a footballing God, I still reckon we need a good second striker, although I thought Kuyt had a good game today. If Kuyt could just get a bit of confidence i think he could be half decent but he'll never be a Torres
