Yeah.....but u have to agree that sometimes rafa does pick the correct side and tactics and the players just don't perform.....

We need both parties to work hand in hand.

We also need another superhuman performance from Gerrard. If he plays to his 100%, we will get through.

Just heard that George Gillett is expected to fly in to witness Liverpool's night of European destiny in Marseille on Tuesday.

-Benayoun is our best RW at the moment.

-European teams don't know how to defend against crouch
-Bring Babel on late on the game to create havoc.

Hope we win......

Rock, you wanted Crouch sold the other thread :)
He is of certain uses i think and is not a bad player.
Like the formation, should be able to win with it

Torres didnt train with the squad yesterday morning no he is not injured he has the flu.

If its anything like the one Ive got well dont expect him to be playing tommorrow night.

Hopefully they will dose him with anti biotics and he will be ok though. (fingers crossed).

I thought Rafa would play Torres and Crouch for this one did anyone else think the same?

I dont know if they will now with Crouch playing 90 mins on saturday I suppose Kuyt will be upfront now after being dropped the last few games he will have a point to prove.

lets hope kuyt is out of favour and we get rid, i want to torres and crouch in this one, we have to win and we need goals and dirk 'whats that white frame with the net' kuyt isn't going to score them.

as for arsenal losing, so what, we never took any advantage of that did we, we still need them to lose 3 more than us this season

I am not worrying about Rafa's selection for the Marseille match, when in rafa's history has he put out a side in a must win game that was even in the same vicinity as the team that played on Saturday?  If everyone names their best XI in fantasy Rafa this week, I am sure nobody will score lower than a 9 (unless your ideas of the best currently fit XI are radically different from everyone else's on the forum)  I think what will be must more interesting is how he manages the game, who he picks on his subs bench and when and how he decides to go to it.  Obviously an earyl goal can change the course of the game dramatically, so I expect us to come out pressing, not letting the crowd become a factor, which would be one of their main advantages.  Also, when we played them that didn't have Nasri, so they might be a little bit tougher, but we still have loads more quality than they do, just about showing it.

Oct 3rd 2007
Liverpool vs Marseille
Result: Lost 0-1
Line-up:
                Reina,
Finnan, Carragher, Hyypia, Aurelio,
Gerrard, Sissoko,  Leto,  Benayoun,
          Torres, Crouch.

Subs: Riise, Voronin, Arbeloa, Kuyt, Babel, Itandje, Mascherano.

-------------------------------------------------------------

:no
... no, not this very same 11 to start, please!
I would prefer to take out Sissoko and Leto and in Masche and Kewell.
Kuyt for Crouch.

As for subs: Hope to see Agger and Lucas inside it.

Torres

         Benayoun

It's an interesting looking line-up, and I guess that Leto would have played on the left with Gerrard through the centre? (I didn't see hardly any of the match). It's certainly one that's worth considering when some of us are talking of rash selections causing problems in future fixtures.

I wonder. As the teams take the field in the Stadium of Velodramatics or whatever the feck it's called, as a couple of French blokes let off those flares which always look mightily impressive and Rafa looks to the heavens knowing that only a victory in this cauldron of noise will be enough to keep us in the competition, and possibly him in a job, I wonder will he look back to the Home game and think that deciding to give Leto a run was perhaps, just possibly a bit of a strange decision.

If he had his time again, do you think he might have gone with a more recognised first teamer? I do.

Hello! My name is Kevin, I'm 16 and I'm a french Marseille's fan who lived near Auxerre. I would like to ask you some questions among whom some will be chosen for being quoted in my forum http://om-marseillais13.com

1) Do you have a particular fear for Marseille - Liverpool?

2) What or who are the dangers for you in Marseille's team?

3)What are your feelings about Djibril Cisse now and when he was at Liverpool?

4)What are your feelings about the "Olympique de Marseille"? Its supporters? Its history? etc...

5)Marseille is the most popular team in France, what do you think about that? It's the same in England?

6) Your forecast for this match?

Good luck! The winner will be the best. :)

eh....i said lets get rid of crouch if we can get a player better than him. So in other words if we don't get anyone better than him...then he should stay.

I have also highlighted many times that i rate crouch over kuyt and voronin. So for me....he and torres are the 1st choice....  :eyebrow

Yeah...hope we win...else this is gonna be a bad christmas for me.....

Man...really hope  Kuyt doesn't start this. But rafa rested him against reading.....so  :(

We need goals..so we must fill the team with potential goalscorers (ie..Torres, Crouch, Gerrard, Kewell, Benayoun, Hyppia)...

yes Leto was left gerrard was centre and Yossi was right. Leto played atrocious in that game, a real shame, becasue he had been playing so well in the reserves and continued to in reserve games after, but Rafa might continue to hesitate to give him more chances because he played so poorly and on top of that we lost.  Then again, I guess it would have been worse if he played out of his element and scored a hat trick and we kept playing him trying to catch lightning in a bottle and kept wasting our time.
