In general they are a polite bunch of people and arent really as bad as some might predict in the UK with the old "chip on their block"

But talk to the dossile kunts about sport, and logistics go right out the window. Today I was drinking beers with six other fellas from work right.

Somehow or other I heard one or two say 'soccer' is a pu$$y sport. Being big hard mighty Aussies who follow football which incidently is rugby  :talktothehand. Got on his high and mighty, only after a few stella's had been sunk I might add and none of this mid-strenght, light nats pi$$ they brew down here. About the fact that Rugby has more skill in it than football does WTF ?

I told him I had more skill in my little pinky than a rugby player had, it was tongue in cheek but the pr.ick held me to it, like I said it was gospel. Even still I tried to tell the bias brute that football does have INFACT more skill than rugby.
By this stage things were getting heated and it was like a live version of newkitt debating.

But the pr@tt asked me if I'd ever played (G)AFL, rugby league or Union. To which I replied "nah mate doesnt interest me"
He got on his high horse EVEN more proclaiming that he'd actually played soccer and liked all sports in general, which apparently gave him the edge over knowing which was more skillful. Two players of soccer he could only mention or know were Beckham   and Giggs. But he'd played soccer, so he knew that rugby had more skill, silly kunt.

He probably knows as much about soccer as I do rugby which is pretty much FA. Of course he had all the backing of the other five monkeys around the table and it almost  got ugly. The fella I was debating is ex-army, and his mate was too and the others were just as big as me  :shifty  I would of got battered.

Monday morning when he's sober I'm going to carry this on I was thinking of asking him two questions.

1) "You've played soccer right, tell what position does a central lying winger take up on a soccer field and whats his gameplan"?

2) What position is a deep lying midfielder, and whats his job throughout the game.

1: The position doesnt exisist my colonial cousin.

2: He probably couldnt answer that either, even Sabre had trouble getting his head around that one.

" So mate, you dont know. There you go, you know just as much about football as I do rugby feckall".

" I've played chess, netball, tennis, athletics but that doesnt mean I know everything about each sport just because I've played it.

Can anyone else here help me out how I can verbally put this guy in his place, fightings not an option, he'd lay me out  :D plus I'd get the sack.

C'mon guys help a fellow PoM out I'm standing my corner on this one.

tell him its a lot easier to control a ball with your hands than feet. therefore football is more skilfull. Rugby requires more brutish force and neanderthal type mentality, so thats why he probably likes it so much, as it appeals to his caveman instincts - tell him that if you like :D

I play rugby at a high level in Oz and have followed football my whole life as my family are english. i played a lot of football until i was 15 and had to choose which sport i wanted to take seriously. In my opinion rugby requires more skill and requires you too think more. Thats just my opinion and it is a lot tougher then football. The injuries, the big tackles, the rucking, it makes football look kinda wimpy when you have ppl like drogba falling down and feigning injury and players wingeing about minor injuries. It really does frustrate me.

By the way, we ozzies are arrogant when it comes to sport, with me being one of the worse. You can't tell us we are rubbish at anything. I will support my teams to the end!

rivaldo

this must have hurt the poor bugger

rugby is a lot harder as the ball isn't round and is too predictable. Its a skill in itself to pick up a losse rugby ball Its a lot harder to beat your man in rugby one on one.

So fuc.king what, is that the only skill a rugby player needs ?

To guess where trhe ball is going to boulnce.

Check out the ronaldinho clip, then tell me there is more skill in rugby.

Your right about one thing though, you lot are arrogant when it comes to sport. The french dont have a patch on you when it comes to arrogance

Lovely f.ucking label that is.

i`ve played rugby since i was 9 and i have also played football

the skill thing imo depends on where and how you play (when playing football) if your a stick the boot in and see!!! then there is no skill but you do need skill if you want to play any type of good game

as for the rugby you need skill for every position and you are not given any time to think like you do in football, it is a lot harder on the body and mind

as for which is the more skillful well i go back to how good the player is??  if it prem footballers up against prem rugby players then they are both at the top of there games and both will have huge amounts of skill for there game

Mate he's as fit as, he runs a 10 Km run every night, he's the kind of person if you gonna go in with him. You make sure he stays down, if you dont he will bash ya.

He's actually alright without a couple of stella's and making out he knows everything about every sport, verbally though him and his mob got me tonight, and unusually I didnt have many, if good enough comebacks. Now I'm thinking about it I'm kicking myslef.  :veryangry
