I download tv shows to improve my english listening, and most of them are with bloody american accent (sorry Bad Bob :D )

I wanted to ask the tv show experts (Dawson etc) what they think about this Beeb's new Robin Hood.

I just have seen some chapters. I quite liked it, but some references to nowadays politics seem to forced in the show, as in, it's strange that in a medieval England some views are that modern.

But have you seen it? BTW, is what they speak northern accent?

it is absolutely awful. robin hood looks about 12, the sheriff is camp as feck, and the acting is atrocious, plus they do add new age politcal stances. go for dr who, well acted, good budget, good script, funny. thats what i say

The new Robin Hood is awful Sabre due to the fact that it's very modern but if you want to improve your English it may do.

Watch QI... Stephen Fry, now there's a well spoken Englishman :)

No, I just like it more, but I do understand a bit better an Irish or an English than an American speaking fast. I like more Spaniard Spanish than the american aswell.

As for understanding, it depends on the tv show. Sometimes slang is used or they speak too fast for me.

Thanks Dawson and Phil :)

I must confess that I've always been a Robin Hood fan, since I was a child I loved the story of the rich man that defended and stole for the poor man.

New Robin Hood clip

Gives you a rough idea of what its like.
Bill Shankly: “I was the best manager in Britain because I was never devious or cheated anyone. I’d break my wife’s legs if I played against her, but I’d never cheat her.”

I have a friend who teaches English in Brazil (he's Brazilian), however, he was taught American English so speaks like one of the Simpsons with a Brazilian-Portuguese twang. I can't stand the mix of a foreign accent combined with an American accent. I'd compare it in bizarreness to Asians who speak English with a Glasweigan twang to their voice.
