Well, thanks to Stevie we've got the lead but we are far from playing well.  Too many slack passes and too much strolling around.  Sissoko is a liability on the ball as usual and Lucas isn't using the ball well either.  Kewell on the right is not working either.

I'd like to see Masch and Babel on and Sissoko and Lucas off.  Get Gerrard and Masch in the centre with Kewell and Babel running the flanks.  And, FFS, keep playing the ball to feet...Newcastle are like pylons out there and we can play through them effectively with a bit more composure on the ball.

given should be off, glad boos have gone from SG to Newcastles own team lol , gotta be putting Crouch on for second half? surely? Torres would surely get into lots of 1 on 1's with the right pass against this :censored:? and to be honest Kuyt cant pass at the moment :(

Oy yea, what the hell IS Sissoko? I'm sure he used to be loads better than this, is it that eye injury that fecked him up? shouldnt be playing Blind players in a game, equal opportunities or not

sometimes i don't see a right winger and sometimes i don't see a left winger... we seem to be only using one winger and that is kewell...

is rafa trying to say something to the owners?

I'd say we are vaguely playing a 4-3-3 with Gerrard, Lucas and Sissoko sitting behind Kewell, Kuyt and Torres.  But, I don't think it's working that well, TBH.  We are giving the ball away too much and are not finding the players in space, even when the space is there to exploit.  Thankfully Newcastle are playing absolutely rubbish or we might be having a much harder time getting to grips with the game.

description on the chance we missed...

counter attack...

kuyt did well to intercept and find torres

torres was through on the right with acres of space (thought he was offside but the flag stayed down)

given came out...

torres passed squared it back to kuyt (bad choice because two newcastle defenders are in between them)

kuyt managed to get to the ball and kick it back to torres barely

given was in no man's land

torres has a wide open goal and kicked the ball first time (maybe he should've taken more time on it)

ball swerved and hit the post with given outside the penalty box

I thought we played well, Kewell has shown some great touches, but we should have been a few more goals up, maybe bring Babel on second half and use his pace to get behind them as they will have to come out more.

I am worried that Rafa hasnt put his suit on, this tracksuit speaks volumes he has never worn it whilst on the sidelines.

Momo's in this half is unthinkable, what's wrong with him?
On Lucas, he's doing very fine ... keep it up lad!
Kewell, not in his best as yet ... got to give him time.

thanks for the explanation bad bob...

doesn't look like it's working at all

Sissoko is almost a passenger other players seem to be doing the job for him

I wouldn't take lucas off... he's playing well IMO

Just bring on a winger for sissoko and revert back to 4-4-2

ive liked lucas play, needs to get into it more but hes doing good. the sending off that should have been was top of the arm, ndgiven had arms down so in fairness would have been harsh.

we're looking good but need to conentrate and get more players to assist the strikers in the box where needed

he looks good... he's an all-round player

seem to be comfortable tackling and cutting off passes as well as passing forward...

some sloppy interchanges with gerrard though...
