also , this part of the world is fairly wealthy and children don't play football on the streets as much as they used to, too many fat kids playing video games.

Next time you see a fattie walking down the street with his video game, slap it out of his hand and tell him that if England don't qualify for 2020, you'll beat the lard out of him.

I knew you'd forget, from a personal point of view I wasnt happen with the performance.

Mind you though England are easily forgetable even to a nipper like me.

I totally agree with you. The "Golden Generation" were embarrassing in the world cup and the Euro qualifiers all this "world class player" crap gets on my nerves.

It's not just eastern European but also the rest of the world that has improved whilst the British teams remain pretty much stagnant... maybe not Scotland so much but they had a very low base to come up from after the Bertie Voigt era.

People are just trying to find a scapegoat with the foreigner thing but England have done nowt since 66 with or without foreign players in the league.

Options last night to win us the game Defoe and Bent. Diabolical

I'm not making any excuses for Mclaren, like most have said he was out of his depth and made major mistakes regarding selections and systems.
But we were missing half a team last night, with the right manager and all of the players fit we would have a side that could compete with most.
Admittedly the striker situation is a problem although i think Defoe is a better player than he is given credit for at this moment, he needs to move and play regulaly. Also there is Dean Ashton to come back into it as well.
Rooney, Owen Crouch Defoe and Ashton, thats not that bad really is it ?

This morning, I'm simply not ar*ed.

English football has needed a wake up call for years now, and finally we've got it. Rather the Euros than a World Cup, I suppose.

The thing that makes me laugh is when that f*cking bloater Barwick (give that tw*t a thin mint and lets be rid of the guy, incidentally) pipes up with immediate action, in the form of an audit of English football from the grass roots upwards. It's like the FA only notice there's a problem when the cheques from the sponsors stop turning up. Would everything really have been rosy if the team had successfully shut up shop for the last 20 mins last night? Would it f*ck.

Why can't we find 11 players in this country that can pass to one another? I'm not even talking about anything tactical, just fundamental 5/10 yard passes to feet, getting simple triangles going, and keeping yourself moving and available. I've seen more grasp of ball retention in non-league football than international football in recent years, and I think the time's come now to just start all over again. I'd actually like to watch an England training session and see what they do with themselves - come match day most of the team look like they've never met.

Spot on. "Our" fans last night were an absolute disgrace. The only times they made noise were during the Croatian national anthem, and at the both half and full time.

They were outsung throughout, and Croatia on and off the pitch showed England exactly how it should be done. When you think about the recent history of that country, with huge loss of life during the war of independence between 1991-95, you simply have to take your hats off to them.

And what a manager they have too in Slaven Bilic - eloquent, tactical nous, passionate... this morning the news is giving it all "oooh...England's golden generation". What absolute horsesh*t. We were bossed by a team that were better than us, and wanted it more even when their job had already been done. THAT is what a national team should be about.

I'm also sick to the back teeth of people bleating on about how the influx of foreigners is having a detrimental effect on the national team.

If the talent was there it would play, if there was another Adams or a Shearer or a Gazza in the reserves of a major club they would play, they just aren't there IMO.

The reason for this is nothing to do with cheap foreign players stifling development, it's due mainly to the fact that when you look out the window you can't see any kids playing in the street, instead they're playing on the x-box and eating pies.

I also reckon that many of the young players who do end up at the academies have been pushed into playing footy for the money and lifestyle it has to offer, rather than the fact they've just been spotted having a laugh down the park with their mates. How many of these young lads already think they're flash at 14 I wonder? And are managed by their dads who 'want the best deal for their boy?'

English football is on it's :censored:

because English football culture has been perverted into some sick pseudo-hollywood which attracts all the wrong sorts IMO, end of.

It's absolutely a wider problem with English society. Kids these days are absolute sh*thouses. When I was growing up in the late 80s/early 90s we'd be on the local park playing 3-'n-in or headers and volleys in the p*ssing rain, but nowadays they're cooped up in their rooms, or sheltering in the doorways of Budgens, texting people that are stood next to them.
