I used to write to a soldier who was serving in the Gulf war in the 90's. (There was a request for letters to go to the troops and you didn't know who was gonna answer yours).

A guy who was in the Royal Engineers replied. He sent me a photo and he was wearing the same 'uniform' as you, although he was in the desert, of course.

He got injured in a road accident and they sent him home to Northampton. He came and saw me a few times and he was an ok guy.
He ended up going back to his base in Germany and didn't return to the Gulf.

He did tell me that they were given a cocktail of injections to alleviate any possible threats to their health and had no choice about this.
Which has since led to the contitious issue of Gulf war syndrome which alot of veterans suffer from.

Anyways, glad you got back ok (from Iraq) ...as I expect is your missus 

We were given loads of injections before we deployed to Kuwait then Iraq, and recieved more injections out there including Anthrax which was a very sore injection and left your arm dead for a day or so, that picture is a few years old but at the time i was so glad to get home to my family.

We did have sunblock which some used, but there were others who thought they were sun gods and in the last few weeks they applied more than enough baby oil for that all over bronze look.
