Eastenders Complaint

I have officially complained and responded with this:
"Misinterpreted? hillsborough was not a case of violence but people fighting for there lives, by using this as a line in a poor tv episode as eastenders to promote it is the lowest of the low, no violence was involved at all, I could go into saying why but that is the job of the novices you have employed in which we are paying our licence fees for. These people you employ should know the facts before stating such comments, as a protest, i refuse to pay my license until the appropriate apology is made, I am not alone in this,in allowing such statements to be made you are clearly trying to anger the city of liverpool. By allowing Kelvin Mackenzie on the bbc to air his views, by constantly rejecting top liverpool matches and by allowing the tripe that eastenders has recently offered to be aired you wish for this kind of reaction you now have it. I am not alone in this matter, an apology is needed on behalf of the 96 who died for real and not to promote some half assed cockney show."

Don't forget the BBC gave a top job to the editor of the Sun who made up all the Bull about Hillsborough.

Personally, I don't think they respect Northerners very much.

you guys all need to get destress a little it was just some thing said on a soap it will be dealt with i have no doubts.

There is more to life then insulting every thing you dont like.

i could just see some of you going fishing and shouting insults at the fish just because they wont bite the hook on your rod.

"god damn you fish you are rubbish what kind of a fish are you cant even take the bait"

some thing like that.

Yes liverpool FC is in liverpool but 90% of the players who play for club (first team) arn't from liverpool .

More then 50% of the fans are not from liverpool.

Manager is not from liverpool.

Owners arn't from liverpool.

So i am few up with this northen b0ll0cks liverpool FC is more then just a club in liverpool , now it is a club that has world wide stature and the home based liverpool fans should stop having this the whole world hates us cos we northeners approch, cos franky its very clear they dont all hate you or liverpool FC wouldnt be half the club it is today .

I suggest you read what he said again, then again and if it still hasnt made sense read it again.

He was commenting on the fact that the bbc dont appear to be showing any respect to northerners. Nothing to do with the fact that LFC have players from all over the country/world or whatever.

Not sure what Eastenders viewing figures are but i would guess between 10-15 million. Now although its only a soap (a supposed fictional world) the writers for some reason brought up a real life tragedy and made an insinuation that the tragedy occurred due to hooliganism, that is something that thousands of lfc supporters and the families and relatives of the victims have been campaigning to set the record straight.
People believe what they hear on the tv and it was either reckless or irresponsible or downright callous that they would use the hillsborough disaster to gain some cheap publicity.

Either way dont trivialise it with stupid comments about people looking for something to moan about cos you are wide of the mark.

"Habit" viewers only.

I doubt they are watching for the deep characters and intricate plots.

Looking around various forums earlier and they all seem to have the impression that terracing was put up because of heysel and only a couple of forums have people correcting them about the state of play on the terracing front so id say well done eastenders, you have single handedly put a majority of the audience in the "hillsborough was liverpools fault" category.

A line in the same episode about the Hillsborough tragedy prompted 380 complaints and the BBC has apologised.

During the show car mechanic Minty said: "Five years out of Europe because of Heysel, because they penned you lot in to stop you fighting on the pitch and then what did we end up with? Hillsborough."

One viewer who complained said: "I think the comments made about the Heysel and Hillsborough stadium disasters were irrelevant to the show.

"I think it was highly distasteful as it had no context whatsoever."

A total of 96 fans died at Hillsborough at the start of the FA Cup semi-final between Liverpool and Nottingham Forest on 15 April 1989.

A BBC spokeswoman said Minty had actually been "reminding" another character that football hooliganism at Heysel "led directly to the fencing in of fans at football matches".

She added that he pointed out there had been "tragic consequences" for the innocent spectators at Hillsborough.

Despite apologising to viewers who may have "misinterpreted" the line, the BBC said it would remain in Sunday's repeat.
