Eastenders last night

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Anyone see it?

A gang of hoolies walked in and smashed the Vic up, Jason took Honey to hospital then Minty said havent you learned your lesson in Heysel getting us banned for 5 years and what happened at Hillsborough  ??? He said you would be suprised what we used to get up to.

What the fuck has that got to do with Eastenders?

Or the story line for that matter a few weeks ago when this storyline kicked off Jason went to see his old pals in some pub it was full of LFC stuff behind the bar posters on the walls etc etc.

But not one scouser is in this gang and the pubs not even in Liverpool plus Jason talks like a manc.

Whats going on  ???

There is no-one anywhere in the world at any stage who is any bigger or any better than this football club.

Strange episode all round. Way i saw it was Minty was saying that Heysel was hoolie-caused (not Scouse or Liverpool FC, just 'you lot', ie hoolies) and 'look where that ended up, fans dying in cages'.

So, Minty blamed hoolies for Heysel and said that innocent people died at Hillsborough partly cos of what the hoolies had done.

It was clumsy and out of their depth really, but i doubt the BBC or Eastenders would be having a crack at any one set of fans, just hoolies in general.

But weren't that mob a little bit past it too? Didn't  their top man used to be Hazell?

:censored: programme. Tv always aims to stupid stereotypes, how often do you see a doctor from Liverpool, he is always a "scally" on the make.

Eastenders had an Irish family about 10 years ago and they showed an episode with their home in Ireland, sheep running through the house - yeah, that is what life is like here in the best performinc economy in europe over last 10 years, with second highest per capita income in the world. ???

Don't know why people watch soaps - waste of time.

Never watched it but have read the echo website which states exactly what was said.
For one it makes no sense, with the characters being cockney and that Jason a manc.

Nothing at all to do with Liverpool as far as i can see and the story line could have easily be done without the need to bring up past tragedies.

I am going to say something quite controversial here but i think the bbc or the eastenders writers are wanting publicity so have done this purposely as it will be all over the media.
If that is true the writer should be sacked.

Anyone have a precise transcript? I would say that is worthy of a complaint direct to the Boll axe Broadcasting Counts

BBC up to their tricks again eh.....

(wtf would anyone watch that s.*i*e anyway)

Nevertheless, the content/theme of the subject they're dealing with is highly sensitive material - i wonder if the club had any prior knowledge of the script writers intentions beforehand. Maybe, its OK to trivialise these things in 'Soap land' now...

Makes you see how f**king difficult keeping this whole area of debate out of the minds/comprehensions of the numpties is - when prime time telly is giving them fodder like that to go on. There should be an official response. Particularly from the factions who have worked tirelessly over the years to eradicate these misconceptions portrayed by an ever gluttonous media hell bent on besmirching the name of our club even further than its already attempted to! - F**k Eastenders - and the mancs...TV/Press....and any bugger else who see's fit to parody tragedies of that nature. How f**king insensitive can it get.

The kind of morons who would believe that sh 1te

And people, don't forget the ACTORS could have objected to the script content and requested it be changed.

I don't watch sh!t like eastenders, or any soaps for that matter, but I read the article on the Echo website and it looks as if the BBC are trying to backtrack.

The implication, as far as I can see from the excerpt of script and the context within which it was said (i.e. a rebuke), is that the actions of those at Heysel indirectly caused or contributed to the Hillsborough tragedy. In other words, Hooligans being indirectly responsible for Hillsborough.

I don't know if anything else was said but it's digrace in itself, I fail to see why it should have been brought up, as it had no relevance to the characters anyway (cockney/manc).

"And EastEnders mechanic Minty rebuked him saying: “Five years out of Europe because of Heysel, because they pinned you lot in to stop you fighting on the pitch, and then what did we end up with – Hillsborough.”

Lines like this are well thought by writers. They can't pretend it to be a harmless joke, nor unintended. And they taunt the truth.

I don't know the program, I just give an opinion about reading those quotes.
