Kuyt. Better attitude and workrate. Berbatov is a better player, of that I think there is no doubt, but it doesn't mean he'd fit into our team well.

Can see me being the minority backing Kuyt here though...

I'll go for Kuyt as well, for exactly the reasons stated above.  To be honest though, there are many strikers I'd rather have than either of them.

I chose Berbatov as he is a better finisher and more effective in the air. I do like Kuyt but he often seems to lack end product.

Dirk Kuyt.

Berbatovs atitude at Spurs recently has been disgraceful! Dont want that type of player at this club no matter how good a footballer he may be.

i thought wed stopped stupid polls?

its irrelevant isnt it? but maybe not. for me its just as much attitude as ability. berbatov is is digraceful as hello_red said, id take kuyt 8 days a week, and still think he'll come good lol

i'll go against the grain and go for berbatov. as much as i like kuyt for his work rate and team ethic, he just doesn't score enough goals which is what he's here for at the end of the day. berbatov looks like a bit of a hissy fit girl, but i reckon a lot of that's down to the fact he's playing for a sh*te club. decent management and better players surrounding him, plus the ego boost of playing for a proper big club could sort that out though. in terms of striking ability he's got it, simple as that.

He has the same scoring record as Kuyt though Woolly and plays for a side that focus on attacking alot more.
Kuyt would score more than Berbatov in any side imo.

Things are going wrong at the minute for Dirk but he will come good. He is being asked to do too much for the team which has made his own form suffer imo. The solution lies with Rafa, i would sit Dirk down and tell him i was made up with his attitude and the fact that he follows the instructions of dropping in when we lose the ball. But remind him that first and foremost he is our centre forward and that should come first. It just appears he (Kuyt) needs to get the balance right on when to drop and when to be in the box.
Berbatov is a quality footballer but doesnt get that many goals. lovely to watch but a bit of a prima donna and after his comments to his previous manager i wouldnt touch him with a barge pole.

Definately Berbatov. For a start ... he scores goals. which is what you would expect of a striker but kuyt does other things - like run around a lot and 'give 100%'. this is good too but i thought strikers were on the pitch to score goals?!

Does he ?

If you read Brian Reades article in Saturdays mirror it showed both of there stats for there respective clubs and they were the same...or very similar. Approximately one in three.
Now with Kuyt he is doing more for the team so can sort of justify that (although not on his current form) Berabatov is a player that does great things..he is fantastic to watch and will always catch the eye but his goalscoring is not prolific either.

Ace I tried (in vain) to find that article online. If those are the statistics then fair enough but kuyt has scored 2 premiership goals this season. Both penalties in the derby if i remember correctly. Benitez has shown a lot of loyalty and faith in Kuyt which has to be applauded but surely now he should sit it out for a while and give Crouch or Voronin a chance to shine.

If you find the article can you post the link. Would add to the thread...

Berba has reason tolook glum
Brain Reade 10/11/2007

I'm struggling to understand how Dimitar Berbatov has been elevated to Gerd Muller status.

Undoubtedly he is a good striker, but on what basis has he swallowed his own hype about being in the top bracket of world strikers?

Berbatov has played 44 Premiership games for Spurs and scored 14 times. Not even a one-in-three hit rate. For someone who is 27 in two months and cost £11million, that's hardly special.

We're not talking Alan Shearer here. We're talking Dirk Kuyt, whose Premiership return is exactly the same as Berbatov's: 14 goals in 44. That's without mentioning his three Champions League goals this season plus one in last year's Champions League final.

Yet the Dutchman's name can't be mentioned without the observation that a cow's backside would be safe from bruising if he approached it with a banjo. So why is Berbatov so smug, so patronising and so sulky?

He has limply reassured Spurs he is committed to the cause despite half of his family saying he's offski, by muttering: "I will help the club in any way I can."

Getting your scoring ratio up to one-in-three would be a start. Smiling would be a bonus.

Haha...he makes his point well. Cheers for that Leon.

However, im still not convinced. Yes Berbatov has the wrong attitude but thats soemthing that can be fixed. I still believe hes more talented, more direct and a better striker. Its a matter of opinion and I would still prefer Berbatov to Kuyt.

There's no one who deserves to be a success more than Kuyt he works hard and seems to have great character and be a genuinely nice down to earth bloke. The unfortunate thing is, in my opinion he just isn't prolific or creative enough. Last season lots of people were saying how he would score 20 goals this season. Maybe if we get 15 or so more penalties he will. Other than that if Rafa persists in picking him I think he will cost us our chance of the title.

Yes he works hard, other than that he is very very average and I can think of many many strikers who would do a much better job than he is doing.

Berbatov is a t0sser, but lets get the goals thing out of the way

Kuyt       19 goals in 61 appearances for Liverpool

Berbatov 26 goals in 65 appearances for Spurs

Yes they both scored the same number of LEAGUE goals last season but Berbatov SCORED A LOT MORE GOALS IN OTHER COMPETITIONS. ie Berbatov scored 23 goals for Spurs last season Kuyt scored 14.

I can't say that either would be top of my list for a place in our starting line up but if I had to choose I would probably go with Berbatov as he seems to be a better all round striker.
