Arrogant ? I don't think so .
Maybe it just suits some people on this forum to see the world as a collection of stereotypes.

World War I and World War II, It was the good old yanks who helped us out.
God Bless America.
The "Yanks" helped us out, did they? Would you consider that a Market trader "helps you out" by selling you their stock? Or would you reckon that YOU helped HIM out?
Do you realise that only at the turn of this year did Britain finally manage to pay off the debt owed to the US for munitions provided from March 1941 during WWII?
There's a World of information out there
I have firsthand accounts from people who were there during the war, and the American soldiers were big on brash, and small on skill.
"As green as grass" best sums up the typical US soldier during WWII. In the beginning, they were a liability.
As the Allied forces transported munitions (under the guard of a handful of tanks) to the front line in North Africa, they encountered a German Panzer squadron. Protocol at this time (when Panzers were far superior to the tanks the allies had) was to destroy the munitions and tanks before you were within the enemy's range, and retreat. (Simply retreating would allow the Nazi's to utilize the abandoned weapons against us.)
So what did the "oh-so-great-and-noble" US soldiers do? They ran. They actually got out of their vehicles and pegged it.
Oh, and here's another little titbit for your future reference:
The USA would not have entered the War had Japan not bombed Pearl Harbor on 7th December 1941. (Which had little to do with the war on Germany, which is a popular misconception. It was more to do with Japan's own expansion policy into Malaysia and the Dutch East Indies.)
So...
Did the Yanks save the World, or did they simply sell us the weapons we saved ourselves with?
We could have always done what the French did - told the Yanks to sod off. We paid back our loan, the French didn't and have no intention of doing so.
The USA entered the war against Germany because Germany declared war on the USA.

anyway as we stood up to leave i noticed one of these ignoramus's had his leg up on the table the sole of his foot pointing at people.
number one people have to eat of that table and number two the thais (buddhists) see the sole of the foot at the lowest part of the body and its offensive to point it anyone, so i took great pleasure in telling him to move his foot of the table, which he did quickly.

Ive mentioned it before and i'll mention it again, its like having new labour in charge of here. Anything controversial results in a card or the topic being locked.
Its not as fun as it used to be.
There's nothing wrong with heated debates. Unfortunately most "heated debates " in this forum have a habit of turning into nothing more than flame wars between individual members, thats when they usually get locked
You may consider that the forum is "not as fun as it used to be" there are plenty of other forums you could visit where malicious abuse and racism is considered "fun" , if thats your thing.

i have nothing agaisnt americans mate apart from the belief that a lot of ex pat americans have that people love them and respect them, in fact its the opposite, they seem incapable of having a quiet conversation![]()
but even if this was two British guys I would have said the same to them, the problem is that Thais are polite and although offended will not speak out, I knew the thai staff wouldn't say anything so I did it for them
