BLACKBURN ROVERS VS LIVERPOOL - Will we beat blackburn?

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Dont really know about crouch for this game hes very weak and with a team like Blackburn they will give him a fecking rought time. However i do not think Voronin is good enough.
Id like to see us play Babel and Kuyt upfront. I think Babel could be a great striker for us if he sees a few games up there.  Alonso? Mascherano ? are they injured ? I think Benayoun should start on the right as we see against arsenal he does make things happen. Hopefully Kewell gets his 1st start of the season at LM. Back four of Finnan Carragher Arbeloa and Aurelio and off course Gerrard CM

Reina

Finnan
Carragher
Arbeloa
Aurelio

Benayoun
Gerrard
??????
Kewell

Kuyt
Babel   2-0 liverpool Gerrard and Babel

I don't normally stick a team up on these threads but i'm desperate for the manager to stick with a similar set-up to the Arsenal game. Crouch must play and Gerrard has GOT to have the freedom to get forward, the lad is on fire at the moment. Our away form has been excellent but Blackburn are flying at the moment so a tough one to call. Play this formation and these players and we'll win the game.

------------Reina-------------
Finnan--Carra--Hyppia--Arbeloa
---------------------------------
-------Masch-------Lucas---------
-----------Gerrard--------------
--Kuyt-----------------Yossi----
------------Crouch-------------

I don't understand why so many posters keep talking up Babel? Is it because he doesn't look much good on the wing and we're hoping he can play through the middle? Is it becaues our other strikers aren't getting the job done at the moment? While he has a bit about him, he's shown virually nothing so far. His touch lets him down regularly, his passing has been inconsistent, he makes poor decisions and while he posesses an absolute rocket of a shot, he rarely gets them on target. I'm not saying i've written him off, i haven't made my mind up yet but he is VERY VERY raw and i'm wondering if the Ajax fans who came on here gloating about 'daylight robbery' were on the money all along. My origninal choice in the summer was the less spectactular, but proven Gamst Pedersen who probably would have cost us the 11mill spent on Babel and wish we had him in the ranks now.

Because the Manager has spent such a lot of money on him and I'm struggling to see why?  Rafa must of known what he would like to do with Babel yet I ain't certain he even knows the players best position or how to get the best out of him.

No doubt we paid to much for him and we made it impossible for Ajax to say no as no other club would of come anywhere near our bid.  With the bid being so high surely the manager must have some belief in the lad and must of known a lot about him beforehand.

The Kid may be raw, he may just be potential but if thats the case I want to know why was so much money spent on him?

As for the game on Saturday usually I would be happy with a point at ewood but due to our form and results recently I think we need to win this game.  Will we?  I aint so confident.  Blackburn are in very good form and they aint just a bunch of kickers.  They got some good players and it will be a very difficult game.  If Kuyt starts with Vorinin I will be disappointed!!

Huge game. Lose and we'll be 4 points behind Blackburn ffs. I'd go for something like this.

                                     Reina

                   Finnan   Carra   Hyypia   Arbeloa

                         Mascherano   Lucas

                   Benayoun    Gerrard         Babel

                                    Crouch

Rafa cannot woory about the opposition. We've got the best away record in the League so lets just go there and tw@t them.  :D

Only two teams have taken points off Arsenal this season in the league - Blackburn and Liverpool...................
Never buy from PC World, product quality is poor and their 'customer service' is even poorer

Pace mate.... without Torres we just have no one who can keep the opposing defence pushed back. If Blackburn play with a high line against us Crouch's height is negated, and the only chance we have is Gerrard breaking through the middle. Stick Babel on and regardless of his ability they will have to respect his pace and take a step or two back.

We have seen that Kuyt and Veronin just don't offer much threat, we may as well try Babel. Not a convincing argument I know but neither are the alternatives.

I dont fancy us playing 4-3-3 because Blackburn are very good at getting crosses into the box from deep and using the pace of their forwards to get on the end of them. sO either we defend from near the penalty spot or try to snuff out their crosses. I prefer to snuff out their crosses.

With our form being so poor and the team struck with critical injuries, I fear for us in this one. Blackburn are playing well. They'll sense how vulnerable we are and go at it full tilt. Could be a game for more injuries.

I had more faith in us beating Arsenal, but I don't have that same feeling here with Blackburn. I'm afraid we'll be lucky to get a draw here nevermind a win, and if we do win, I'll be very surprised. Sorry, fella's, I don't normally bet against my own team, but I can see this going 2-1 against us with McCarthy bagging a brace.

It's a fair point but it's a shame the only attribute we're really talking up is his pace. He may well come good but i figure it probably needs to happen within a team that is playing well. No doubt if you put Babel in the current Arsenal side he would look a far better player.

As for the 4-3-3 it will eseentially be a 4-5-1 when we lose the ball as was the case last Sunday so i don't see any great problems dealing with their attack. I just hope the manager sticks with Crouch and gives Gerrard the freedom to roam.

I'll second that - a defeat could be on cards just as much.
