He was actually quite skillful for (in those days) such a big man. He lost a hell of a lot of pace and mobility early on with a bad thigh(?) injury. We tried to offload him about 4 years after he signed but he failed the medical (luckily for us). He never played that many games a season due to his injury problems from what I can remember, but was a great target man and always a goal threat and not just in the air either.
He was vital to the team as we won the league in 1973, as our best weapon was a huge boot from Clemence "Wimbledon style" up to Toshack and Keegan. I remember he made one of Keegan goals against Leicester in the cup semi replay the following season with an incredible flick on, (Leicester where a great team at the time)I think he managed to score as well but I may be wrong. Made one of the goals for Heighway in the final against Newcastle as well.
I am pretty sure we would have completed an awesome treble in '77 if he hadn't been injured before the final against the mancs. It was rumoured he would be fit for the European Cup final but he never made it.
He used to have a sports shop in partnership with Emlyn Hughes when he first came, don't know if its still going?
Sorry I think I posted this in the wrong thread..... its all Sabre's fault

Sorry
