Okay folks, we've had a chin-wag about what you've posted here and have decided to go with option 3.  That is to say that we'll leave the match thread open for a few hours after the final whistle before locking it, to give people a chance to rejoice, vent or whatever.  If no post-match analysis thread has been started when we lock the match thread, we'll start one to serve as the forum for a more considered dissection of the performance.  But, for those of you that want to move to that stuff more quickly, feel free to start your own post-match thread when the mood strikes.  I think that approach should satisfy most people and if not, well, I'm sure you'll learn to live with it. :D  Thanks for your input. :nod
