yess... we also join all demonstrations about against nucleer weapons or atoms.. and we prepare placards about that and put in stadium some matchdays...

Seems to be a few "i don't really care about this match" mentalities floatin around this thread, it would be a grave mistake to take this game lightly, or to have half an eye on the Arsenal game because the Champions league is a huge source of revenue for the club, not to mention the prestige that has come with our great runs in it in the last few seasons. After the horror show of the Marseille game, it should be strongest team possible, regardless of the weekends opposition, where a win isn't a necessity, defeat is unthinkable as we'd have a massive mountian to climb.

Does anyone know if Torres and Alonso are definately fit?

Fernando Torres ruled out of Champions League clash

Oct 23 2007 EXCLUSIVE by Tony Barrett, Liverpool Echo
Fernando Torres

FERNANDO TORRES was today ruled out of Liverpool’s crunch Champions League clash in Turkey.

Boss Rafa Benitez had hoped to have his top scorer available for tomorrow’s crucial tie with Besiktas in Istanbul, but following discussions with the club doctor at Melwood this morning it was decided that Torres must remain on Merseyside.

The record signing has been working his way back to fitness since picking up an abductor muscle injury with Spain 10 days ago.

But the meeting with Besiktas has come too soon.

He will now undergo further rehabilitation work at Melwood, with Sunday’s match against Arsenal a realistic target for his comeback.

But even without his top scorer, Reds boss Rafa Benitez has underlined the importance of Liverpool pushing for a win tomorrow night.

“It’s clear we need to go to Istanbul and try to win,” he declared. “If we don’t do that we know it will be difficult for us but all we are thinking about is the three points. The players know how important it is for us to win this game.

“In our first match, we know our first half performance wasn’t good, but Porto are a good side and to get a draw when we went down to 10 men wasn’t bad.

“We made a mistake in our next game against Marseille which was a bad night for us. We need to repair that mistake against Besiktas.”

Benitez is aware of the incendiary atmosphere which will be awaiting his side, but believes his squad has the strength to deal with it.

“I have spoken to Spanish journalists this week and they have told me how passionate the fans are in Besiktas. But we know that anyway and our players will be able to handle the situation.”

Xabi Alonso is back in the squad for the trip to Istanbul, but Daniel Agger and Alvaro Arbeloa will miss the match.

No.

There's a strong movement in all the continent against that source of energy. They consider it not safe, and they are worried about the nuclear waste they produce.

I'm not in that continental position, basically, because as much as I don't like it because it's not clean (although with proper measures it's safe) it's necessary to meet the demands of energy requirement.

Lets hope the only kind of 'Fusion' we see tomorrow is done on the pitch between our players. This is when people will realise that Gerrard has had 20 odd minutes extra topping up time in anticipation for what will be 3 high profile games in a week by the time Arsenal visit on Sunday. Wouldn't be at all surprised if Rafa does it (or something similar) again in Istanbul.

As long as we win mate, I don't care Rafa makes strange things, even entering Alonso in min 55, and getting him out the team in min 65 will be fine in my book if we win.

As for the Turkish atmosphere, pah, it's hot, but when you score two at their face they shut up like everyone else.

Forgive me for not noticing already (if indeed there already is...) but who, are the 'Main threats' of the Besiktas side - can't be ar5ed looking it up. Usually there is already a couple of idle threats that 'such and such' is going to run riot at some point during the match...Have they got an Ade Akinbye lurking ominously within the ranks?

Liverpool will again be without striker Fernando Torres for the trip to Turkey because of the thigh injury that kept him out of the derby win over Everton.

Torres, 23, who has been in terrific form since arriving in the summer, pulled up while training with Spain.

Alvaro Arbeloa (thigh) is also out but midfielder Xabi Alonso could play after recovering from a metatarsal problem.

Besiktas goalkeeper Hakan Arikan has not recovered from a stomach injury and will be replaced by Rustu Recber.

They'll have some bloke up front from Uzbekistan who will sign for Watford a few weeks after the match if he has a good game. It'll be noisy, they'll dive around a lot, the pitch will be bumpy and it'll be a sh!te game. Somebody on our side will get booked for taking a throw in from the wrong place, and their crowd will whistle when we have the ball. We'll look like we haven't played football together ever (nothing to do with rotation, NOBODY plays well in these gaffs, thankfully them included) and my suspicion is we'll grind out a 1-0 win.

It won't be pretty but who gives a feck.

Bobo
Delgado
Ricardinho

Theve been scoring in there league this season mainly Bobo.
There defence is quite experienced but slow .

Im off in the morning at 7 from heathrow and coming back Thursday im not expecting much of a good game but i certainly think it is a must win one

1-0 sounds about right.  I see Benayoun dribbling through ribbons of toilet paper and wrong-footing a flare before mis-hitting a floating cross to the far post that their keeper should have--but failed to--gather easily.  It hits the woodwork, bounces back off his bonce and trickles in.  Besiktas surround the ref looking for him to send the Israeli off for attacking their keeper with the ball but are gutted to see him only given a yellow.  The goal stands, we defend like lions for 25 minutes and bag the points.  Oh yeah, and Rafa hauls Stevie off at the 70 minute mark for not playing with enough passion. :D
