With SMicer out for 6 months as reported on liverpool website, we will now hopefully see the reds making a real push to strengthening our midfield. I already felt it needed 1 player.. now it would need two.. and with smicer back just after christmas time we will at least have some rotation and players getting fresh at the business end of the season and before our champions league final!!!

even with Smicer fit, I think we need strenghtening of our midfield, obviously Benitez trusts in our current sqaud enough to do well.

And that doesnt worry you??? It is plain to see that our squad is not up to it.. see last year 30 points away!!!!!

I still think a couple of players will arrive before the big kick-off.

yeh it does worry me somewhat, i think we lack depth in midfield and ideally as supersub some new players will come in b4 the start of the season.

But we have to trust in Beni that he knows what he is doing.

last season was a bit of a freak season though, we still have almost the same sqaud as 2 season ago whwn we finsihed 2nd and made the champs league 1/4 final b4 we had relatively the same side (minus Babbel. Gary Mac and Litmanen). so the sqaud isn't terribel , I am hoping Beni brings in at least another midfielder b4 the season starts, but we will wait and see.

We suffered a lot of injuries last season and the squad was a little stretched at times.We have lost a few players already this term transfer/on loan/injured and we haven't brought in enough players to replace them.Unless Rafa is going to use some of the young lads,we could be caught short and therefore it's imperative we bring in 2/3 more players.

I think 2 midfielders would make us well strong.

Is there any more news in the UK about Collochini(or however it is spelt!)? I have read that Real and AC both rate him at 4 million pounds and our bid is 3 million.. but you never really know whats happening... I am happy to see one more defender and two more midfielders (Right and Creative) come in for us to challenge...

yeh i agree aussiered, but with Josemi signed, i think Coloccini is not coming, maybe im wrong, and as i've sed b4 a RM and CM to complement Stevie is what we need.
RM is the main pririty as I think we have decent CM's in Hamann, Murphy and Diao.

Dioa may improve under Benitez and i think he should get a shot, as his opportunities were limited under Houllier.

I do think we need another "recognised" centre half and not someone who can "fill that role if needed".

yeh, well Josemi can play CB but has said his preferred position is RB, surely Rafa wouldn't have signed him to play rb when we already got Finnan and Carra.

Henchoz is solid but lacks pace, so does Sami but he makes up for it with his strength, marking and aerial prowess.

Definitely need more pace both at the back and in midfield. Smicer is cr@p anyway, so won't miss much of him. i just wonder if the lack of signings is due to the lack of funds.
