At this moment I would give the job to anyone who supports Liverpool, simply because we couldn't do any worse.

Houlliers time is up,I wouldnt be surprised if he resigns in the next couple of weeks with thommo taking over as caretaker. If he turns things around he might even get the job.

Said it earlier, think it should be Hector Cuper, just fired from Inter, brought them to Champions League semi's last year, and brought Valencia to the finals twice in a row, he's shown he can do it in different leagues, he gets the defence sortd first but his teams always play with attacking flair, if Liverpool wnat to be big again they have to think big, give this man half the time of Houllier and the same kind of money and Liverpool will be one of the biggest teams in the world again

I'm sorry simic_ie but ask any Inter fan and they'll tell you that Cuper has drained every last bit of flair and inventiveness out of their team, it would be Souness/GH all over again........

Yeah. Cuper got severe criticism last year from the Italian press and Inter fans for playing defensively and conservatively.

You have to be worried if the Italians criticise you for being boring!

It is true that Cuper's Valencia side played with flair in Europe but Cuper was unable to repeat that at Inter.

I think his style of management is more suited to the Spanish game and I don't know how he would manage in the Premiership.

All the same, he is a decent candidate for the job.

My choice for the job would be Martin O'Neill, although my biggest reservation about O'Neill is that he plays wing backs.

Fashanu is doing a decent job at Fash Fc, what about him LoL! Seriously though, unless we finish fourth this season with a pretty decent FA Cup run and Uefa, Houllier will bite the bullet no question. I quite fancy Toshack as manager, he's had his fair share of ups and downs, but he's got a vast football knowledge and has managed in Spain. Plus he's an ex red, and wouldn't stand for some of the Bulls**t that goes on every saturday from certain players. He's also had time to reflect on the game after a spell out of management.

But then again i could take a team containing palyers like Kewell, Owen and gerrard, and get them at least 11 points from 27.

I think wee Gordon done a cracking job at Coventry, He's doing a cracking job at Southampton so maybe he'd relish the chance at Anfield.  I like his style. When aked what he feels like when his team gets beat he said " I go home and close the door and contemplate cutting my throat" no excuses just the passion that all footballers should feel.

I hate to say this but i agree with this post, we do need a new manager, Houlliers time is up. I'm gutted. Theres no doubt that he has done very well for us over the years considering we had a mediocre team with Roy Evans. I have always thought that houller is right in what he syas, and how he plays the game, but on saturday, i realised i was wrong. I wouldn't like to say who our next manager should be possibly Thommo, but they've got a huge task on their hands!!!!!

The irony is fans say what a great job he has done then say the next manager has a huge task on their hands.I agree GH did win Liverpool 4 trophies but we are still short of being a serious threat to the Arsenal/manc domination.

As someone based in Scotland who travels down to games I see a lot of Celtic up here. They play good attractive football and give absolutely 100% every week. The players can't say too many good things about the manager and whenever he is on TV or radio he conducts himself brilliantly. His time at Celtic has shown him how to win trophies, how to work at a big club, how to compete and be successful in Europe and also he has not had an unlimited budget. I believe he is now ready to take on his next challenge and that should be Liverpool FC.
He would reintroduce pride in every player, we would be organised and committed, he would suffer nothing less than 100% every week.
Remember he has taken so called "problem" palyers like Sutton and Hartson and they have been no bother at all. He has taken players like Larsson who is an absoluite god at Celtic and got him working like you wouldn't believe.
If he could get the quality of player that Liverpool has to play like the Celtic guys do you would see an unbelievable transformation. When he took over at Celtic they were a shambles.
He does favour 3-5-2 but is that so bad? He would bring in a big central defender to play alongside Hyppia/Henchoz. Riise and Finnan would be allowed to break and make passes and create. He would play Hamann in the holding role and let Gerrard/Murphy or whoever go and create. Then Owen and his partner would get more freedom as well, more support from wide areas and you would see more support from midfield. Just because Liverpool have always been 4-4-2 doesn't mean to say we can't change.
It has gone on too long now. The lame excuses after Portsmouth about injuries was the final straw for me. We fielded a team of ten current full internationalists ( only bIscan isn't) and Portsmouth fielded NO current inernationalists.
Yet we still lost and the manager's excuse is that we have injuries.
Sorry - time up.
