Is it just me or did Dimbleby totally belittle the tw.at? He was nearly crying at the the end of that rant !

made him look like a little kid didn't he.

He didn't know what to say and ended up sounding childish.

Sums up the man.

I've e-mailed the BBC on several occassions to complain about my licence fee being spent on that :censored:, as have many other people I know, every time the exact same response has been sent:

"We're sorry to hear of your objection to Kelvin MacKenzie's role as a presenter for this programme. While we fully recognise the strength of feeling that some people have against Kelvin, he has a great deal of experience in broadcasting and a keen eye for stories, which makes him well qualified to give his views on the news stories of the year.

Kelvin MacKenzie will always arouse strong feelings from our audience - that's in his nature as a broadcaster and as a person - and clearly not everyone wants to hear what he has to say, but equally there are many others who appreciate hearing his opinions even when they don't agree with them.

Many people have highlighted to us Kelvin's recent statement in which he said he wasn't sorry about the Sun newspaper's handling of the tragedy at Hillsborough, but such private comments are entirely his own and they are in no way endorsed by the BBC. We believe he is an appropriate choice as presenter for this particular programme, but your comments have been registered and will be taken into consideration."

Bob Shennan
Controller of Five Live

Thank you, once more, for taking the time to contact the BBC.

Regards

Absolutely disgraceful, they're obviously not gonna do anything about it, and there's nothing you can do other than risk getting banged up for not paying your licence. TV licencing should be scrapped & ads introduced on the BBC, as long as we have a legal obligation to pay for it voting with our feet (or remotes) will have no effect as they will still get the same money  :veryangry

Mr McKenzie seems obsessed with getting his face on television; he is on the Alan Titchmarsh show on ITV1 at the moment.

I can save people lots of time. You don't need to watch Mackenzie on TV or read his columns in tabloids. He repeats the same stuff over and over again. It goes like this:

- Everyone on benefits is a sponger.
- All homosexuals are perverts and predators.
- Anyone of Arabic or South Asian appearance must be a terrorist.
- All Scousers are scallies and the city of Liverpool is probably satanic.
- The most important thing in the world is the value of his house increasing.
- White van men have the solution for sophisticated political and social issues.
- "Facts" don't necessarily have to be facts.
- Live TV was groundbreaking and ahead of it's time.
- Anyone who isn't white, straight, a homeowner and from London isn't technically human.

here is the email i got, same content different sender

Thank you for your e-mail regarding Kelvin MacKenzie.

I understand you feel Mr MacKenzie is an unsuitable presenter for the BBC.

While we fully recognise the strength of feeling that some people have against Kelvin, he has a great deal of experience in broadcasting and a keen eye for stories.

I would like to assure you that we have registered your comments on our audience log. This is the internal report of audience feedback which we compile daily for all programme makers and commissioning executives within the BBC, and also their senior management. It ensures that your points, and all other comments we receive, are circulated and considered across the BBC.

Thank you once again for contacting the BBC with your comments.

Regards

Exactly the same as my response from Five Live Peewee, they can't even be bothered to write different responses for different departments  :veryangry

Just shows how many people are complaining if they have a set response to issue.
