If you don't understand the lowest form of wit, how can you possibly be adept at the higher forms?

(And before you suggest that one is maths, and the other is physics, I'm quite sure you'll find the two share a close relationship, much the same as sarcasm and the afore-mentioned "higher" forms of wit...)

Rafa knows higher forms of wit, so in Rafa I trust.

And here's what he's said today in the Peter Crouch thread:

Heimdall wrote:But this is the problem isn't it, this stupid rotation of Rafa's coupled with the fact that he has the charm of a cinder block isn't helping us at all, in fact it is the problem.
Rotation sucks and so do Crouch and Rafa although Crouch would probably improve if he had a manager who could give him some confidence, I find it astonishing how many players seem to leave us and immediately start playing better!!
Oh I am so fed up with Rafa now, he is to stubborn and stupid, I can't believe he actually thought he would sign Heinze, I assumed he was only doing it to wind up Red Nose but look who had the last laugh, again!
Now we are languishing with bugger all team morale, this will all end in tears, unless Rafa's ships out and we get a manager with some knowledge of the premiership. :help

I'm absolutely cryin' here!

Anyhow, Heimdall is taking the stick for this, but  to be honest, he's not a single clase, he's one among many.

In one form or another we all change our mood, didn't we all feel like we could beat anyone against Barcelona game yesteryear?, and  there are other times instead, in which Tottenham at home gives more respect.

That's why we should think twice before posting something like "Rafa out", or "We're invincible". A league is long, and IMHO Manchester City will explode like a balloon, it just requires the opposition realises that Garrido is the weak link (he's not good enough for a decent team). I admit the English league is traditionally a bit more predictible with less changes in the top, but I reckon that anything can happen as the differences between teams are small. Meaning, Manchester bridged the apparently big gap between Chelsea and the others yesteryear. Arsenal more than 21 points away last season, is in top now. But I don't think they will last longer than January in the top, they're squad is not deep enough (IMHO).

No question about it some people got badly carried away on this thread. I suspect if you brought up the after match thread from the derby game there'd be plenty of people going on about how strong and deep our squad is/was and how me mullered them with a much rotated team. Still, you live and learn I guess.

The thing about this thread though is not necessarily that it is an example of "fickleness", but it shows just what momentum can do for a team and fans. Many looked at the Pompey away, Brum at Home and Wigan Away triple header and thought we should be looking to take maximum points, and of course although we didn't actually get them they were justified in their aspirations.

It's always possible to drag up old threads and make people looka bit daft. I guess those who accused some of over-reacting after Bramhall Lane last season would maybe now concede that the result, selection and performance were more significant than they imagined at the time. You could probably make a case for Pompey away this season being similar, although I suppose people will stick to their guns for longer on this one.

In a sense though that's what being a fan is all about, like a roller-caoster. Team wins and you're top of the World, it loses and you're distraught. Maybe I should drag up the "to be honest, I'm starting to get a little bit worried thread", but then some fecker will find a Robert Earnshaw or a Pelligrino thread to shut me up. Such is life.

Why did you like him Mick? :D
There is no-one anywhere in the world at any stage who is any bigger or any better than this football club.

Yeah I saw him in the first couple of appearances and commented that he was good defender :D I liked the way he always got right side though he did look as if he lacked a bit of sharpness. As usual I wasn't scared of calling it early and from that point on the fecker just got worse and worse  :D

My one slight get out clause is that I'll bet we was good when he was younger.

Having been lucky enough not to post in here before, I can be honest when I say I would rather we were over optimistic, than suffer the doom and gloom that has since followed it. I still think we can win the league, even though we have made things much more difficult for our selves by dropping silly points. More worrying is how brittle our teams confidence was, champions have to take the knocks and come back strong, not curl in a ball and cry.

I expect us to come back after the break all guns blazing, if we are going to fail I would rather we went down fighting and trying to play good football.
