for cardio, in order to build up some stamina avoid the lengthy runs initially, it will knacker you and bore you because of the time.

start with sprints for a few weeks, start by walking for one minute, then sprint for 20 seconds, walk for one minute, sprint for 20 seconds etc. do this for 20 minutes. after a few days increase your sprint to 30 seconds and so on.

trust me on this it works

I've gotten relativly unfit, but I'm still in good shape. I used to train at least 3 times a week from I was a teenager, but recently within the past 2 years, I've stopped. Football stopped, and I stopped lifting wights in my own time. I never relied on a partner, apart from the football, so sticking to a routine is nothing to me. I've gained about a stone in those two years of not being really that active, but considering the lack of exercise, that's still not bad. I'm about 12.7 stone now, and the only thing I've noticed is that I've gained a bit of body fat, but still very little on me. When I was training, I had hardly any. They say that building muscle burns a lot of fat to keep it sustained, so I reckon I'll be back to my normal self in about a month or so, three days a week training for an hour. Less is more in my experience. I don't understand why people think they need to go to a gym 6 days a week.

You'd be right there. Sprinting activates an enzym (forget what you call it) that is a powerful fat burner. It also requires a lot of energy to run in bursts, so what you're saying makes sense.

I'd gradually work the walking part into a jog, then sprint. If you can do this for an hour, walking, then joging, then sprinting, then walking again, then you know you're really fit, and your body will be burning fat even when you arn't doing anything or sleeping during the night. It's at this stage where you can eat whatever the f*ck you like without worrying about putting weight on.

I used to go on 8k runs quite regularly, I definitely need to vary it a bit more though to keep it interesting. It can get boring but I think finding a scenic route is half the battle, luckily I live near a few nice routes that go through the countryside.

I'll give what you say a go, just for the beginning to get started again, but only if you trust me on this:

ROTATION WORKS  :D

I do fuck all.  I'll be honest, my lads in my office often say that if you sliced my skin open, blood wouldn't appear.

What would appear is pure sausage, beans, bacon and toast if you sliced my veins open.   Plus, I have a developing alcohol habit.  I've drank a fucking shitload tonight and I feel sober.  Total fucking waste of time.

I'm not as bad as I was a couple of years ago but still 'not good' as a statement.  I have friends who drink more than me so I know I'm normal compared to those.

I'm deadly serious, I should join a gym or do something.  I even drive walking distances.  I'm ridiculous.  I do NO exercise.

Loads of birds in Town tonight though.  You can't knock that.

The fact that you've had a discussion with yourself at 4am indicates that you may have a drink problem!!!

Everyday, I do 80 reps with 80ibs dumbells, 60 stomach crunches and a ten minute run. Then, 3 times a week I go on proper runs, 3 miles or so, up hill and down. I also play football at least once a week. I Drink plenty of milk too as tests have proven that fat burns faster, and muscles repair and develop quicker if you have plenty of milk in your system.

I walk 2-3 miles a day, live on the 3rd floor of a four story block that doesn't have a lift and drink 2 litre's of vodka a week.

Works for me. :)

20 mins on the cross trainer, 20 mins on the weights, 1 mile run then a swin an a jacuzzi. That's when I bother to go the gym anyway. I've not long been on holiday so I need to get back into it.
