Bizarre...

On the little I've seen of him "risking points if we played him" is something of an understatement , I know it's only one performance that I've seen but it's  possibly the most unconvincing debut I've witnessed from a Liverpool keeper. If Pepe's injured god help us .

so by rights then every time we play someone who is not strongest in their position we are risking points, so by rotating players and dropping them we are risking points.

or does this apply to the keeper

either rotation and dropping players is a good thing or a bad thing, or are we going to have in betweens now and say it depends on who is dropped    :D

I think the key is who we bring in to replace the player rested. If we brought in someone like Cech to replace Reina I would have few fears, whereas Zenden for Gerrard brought me out in a rash  :D

so its fair to say then s@int that by dropping torres and replacing him with one of the other forwards is weakening the team and risking points

I think after the Dudek/Kirkland years, it should be obvious that rotation is at its most destructive between the posts. Itanje will get enough practice with the league cup, FA cup and the reserves. And if, God forbid, Pepe comes a cropper at some point this season, it'll only take Itanje one league game to put him in the right frame of mind and skills.
I was quite impressed with him against Reading. The only real mistake was for the second goal (looked a little bit Calamity Itanje) and the rest of his performance was strong. I'm sure he'll be fine.

I doubt it. There wouldn't have been much point in signing Itanje if that were the case, would there? There would have had to be a specific clause in the loan contract, and Villa probably wouldn't have agreed to that.
