Rotation - inevitable or a pile of old *****?

Given the differing opinions on the board concerning the quality of the squad as a whole, what's the thoughts on the level of rotation that will be employed this season?

A common thread in many of the posts here point towards the need for consistency and belief and I think that can only successfully be achieved by establishing 1 main team.

I appreciate that the amount of games can get heavy through the season and injuries play a role...but I can't help but think back to the great days when we were Champions at home and in Europe....mostly achieved with one team. I know I keep harking back to the old days, but I sometimes wonder if we don't need to re-invent the wheel to achieve our goals.

the most interesting thing to me will be to see what happens with the strike force and whether rafa rotates the players we have. baros is gonna want away if he is sat on the bench all season.

if i remember rightly, manure had yorke, cole, sheringham and solskjaer and just kept rotating the four of them to great effect depending on the game. i don't see why we can't do similar. if a player isn't performing though i hope rafa has the balls to drop them.

the first choice defence should stay the same barring injury. during the treble season babbel, h@h and carra played about 60 games together and gained a great understanding. we had the best defensive record in the league.

Agree with the defence needing to be a solid and as constant as possible. I haven't had the chance to see Cisse in action, so I am not sure if this is feasible (prob not) but I wonder how the 3 of them together would function. They'd certainly give oppsing defences something to think about.

I have the feeling that Owen is gonna get the kick up the backside he has been needing for a while now. Now that he isn't the big fish in the pool anymore, hopefully he'll get the bit between his teeth now and really achieve what we know he can.

I take the "old school" attitude . If your first eleven are fit and on form you play them. Thats what fit and on form players want.
A rest can be beneficial in some cicumstances but if the on form player feels up to it stick him on the teamsheet.  :)  :)  :)

i think its best to keep on playing on-form 1st team players till you think they need a rest. Agree with u guys that defence should be the same always. Game to game rotation is definitely no.

Lets not forget Pongolle is in the mix too. I don't really like a rotational squad. I would much rather have a solid block of defenders and midfielders, rotating the strikers would work in our advantage though, thats what i believe. Each time one striker is left out, hes going to be more hungry and busting to play in the next game.

I think we can definitely restore our defensive record from a few seasons back, even with the same players. We have Josemi to pressurise Carragher and Henchoz for a place in the starting 11, then you chop it around, Carragher is going to be on Riise's back too. Our midfield still needs to be brought up to scratch though in my opinion. Possibly one or two good signings would do the trick.

I think our problem in the past has been that GH played his favourite 11 and not players that are in form, as far as I'm concerned if a player is 'in form' then play them :;):
