When the euphoria made some posters creating a thread "We're on top" and they were ready to show it to their Chelsea mates, Rafa was saying that winning the league was going to be difficult. And it's going to be difficult because of factors he has mentioned like the international breaks, which have come together with an European night and some injuries.

So we have windy weather in the voyage now, and we got some draws. That's what happened, a little storm, so the proper thing to do is not to jump desperately to the sea, it's not safe, the proper thing to do is to handle the rudder firmly and haul down the sails not do damage them. Soon enough we'll have wind behind and be at full speed.

It's fair I consider a failure of the rotation policy if we don't compete for the league this year. As I thought one of the main problems we had was squad depth, and, despite we haven't signed the men I would have signed to strenghten it, we have a very very strong team.

So if the people dare to jump from the vessel so soon to the ocean and wilderness of the old non rotation vessel, and say the rotation doesn't work so soon, I have to put some risk over the table aswell and say rotation will lead us to be close to the league or win it, and you can quote me on that at the end of the season. :)

The boards are healthier now. We even have football in general chat. But rotation wasn't the  culprit of the problems we had before :D, it's the posters trying and achieving to behave better what is making the forum better.

:D   Any sardines or seagulls following this 'ere vessel sabre!

In all seriousness, i know exactly what you are saying mate.

I detect more than a hint of "anti-Mickyness" in one or two of his recent posts and after years without a flame war on the boards, I am strapping on the jet boosters (whatever the feck they are, don't know where that came from TBH) for maybe my first

Don't count on it. It would be hypocrtical for me to talk about sensible debating and then go on and have a slanging match with you.

I respect your views fully, you have gave reasoning to all of your opinions unlike certain minority of the people here.

Regarding my posts, I do believe that you've been a bit hypocritical yourself [along with a couple of others] in regard to rotation.

Correct me if I'm wrong, you suggested before we played Birmingham, that we should rest players against them? Actually and funnily enough, I was one of the people who said that there was no need for resting players in this game. Due to the fact that we didn't have an important game in mid-week.

Had Benitez decided to do what you and other suggested, and gotten the same result, then imo there would had been hell everywhere.

Even Ian Rush understands the reasoning behind leaving Torres out

From the Echo

From a coaching point of view, I can see where he was coming from.

He obviously thought that Andriy Voronin and Dirk Kuyt were better equipped to face Birmingham. I don’t think it had anything to do with tiredness or upcoming matches.

Rafa will have been working all week on a tactical plan. He knew Birmingham would be very defensive and get 11 men behind the ball.

It was always going to be difficult to break them down and he thought the movement of Voronin and Kuyt would do the business.

When you make a decision like that and it doesn’t work then people are always going to ask questions.

To be fair, the team who started should have been good enough to get the three points. We dominated possession but Birmingham were very resilient.

It's not like Ian has to defend Benitez, he could easily criticize him i.e Hansen,Lawro or Tommy.

In regards to this recent slump, as I've said before, I think it's really the international break. As it has happened before and our players are the most affected by it as they always seem to play all of their games for their country.

It's quite evident that we're playing poorly. Players can't string a couple of passes together, and don't tell me it's because of rotation and players don't know where one another are. I never understood that feeble argument, as they were fully capable of playing properly with rotation a couple of weeks ago.

Anyways, I don't want to detract attention further from the topic at hand here.

If you go further than that post and read this first post of Bigmick AB, you'll realise that Bigmick's position in all this is not hypocritical whatsoever

http://www.liverpoolfc-newkit.co.uk/viewtopic.php?t=22552

He was almost alone in the antirotation vessel back then. Now he's receiving a lot of crew men of the other vessel. :D

On topic bit: Did I mention how good is the work of the current mods? Absolutelly brilliant.

We all have our different opinions and views on certain matters, but it's just refreshing to see the majority get their point across without having to be in a slug fest with someone.

I myself have been guilty of it in the past, but I think it's important that we as senior members of the forum continue to debate properly and set an example.

We have far too many intelligent individuals on here to go down the road of bickering back and forth.

Although the match thread is heated as always, the discussions taken place after the match on Saturday have been quite pleasant to my surprise.

I also credit the new moderators who have done a splendid job.

It's just a shame certain spoons think that outdated, outmoded methods are the only way to win football matches...

And as the initial post in the "Straw Houses" thread says - bigotted dickheads who think their footballing knowledge outweighs that of a man at the top of the tree, with the track record to prove it.

I bet these punks also believe they know more about Computers than Bill Gates, more about cars than the head of BMW, and more about the World than God.
I guess if they had a firm, they wouldn't employ someone with a proven past in the business - they'd hire a know-nothing gimp who THINKS their way is right, when in reality they've never even tried it. They've just seen things from a distance many years ago, and feel that these methods are still the only way to go, despite massive advances in understanding and technology.

In short, they are "Betamax Men" - The original video recorder, which was the best unit to buy 20-odd years ago, but has since been surpassed by better things.

"Betamax Men" are stuck in a time warp, bleating on about how their way is the best, despite the fact that times have changed. They still have phones like this:

TV's like this:

Washing machines like this:

And brains like this:

"Betamax Men" fail to grasp Darwin's Theory of Evolution - despite the fact that they are classic examples of the inferior members of our species, certain to die out as a result of natural selection.

But lest not forget that these archaic nobodies believe themselves to be superior in knowledge to a man who has spent his life studying the game and it's intricities.

Lando, Rafa is not beyond criticism.

Everyone has an opinion.

I remember my older brother's would still have a go about Paisley every now and then (rare, yes).
It's called having your own opinion.

How boring would this site be if we never criticised the manager? Wouldn't be much of a discussion site would it.

Rafa was wrong not to play Torres against Birmingham by the way!   :wwww

dont worry, let him trust the guy who took us further away from winning the league last season.

and like saint says, he isnt a bricklayer but he can see when a bricklayer has made a mess of a wall.

happy clapper to the extreme, like i have said many times i would have more respect if he was honest about the situation rather than blind faith

yeah a thread about how its good when people avoid the name calling, and once again lando proves he is unable to get his point across sensibly, i didnt even read it all, just spotted the usual abuse to try and strengthen a weak argument.

nest time try it without the abuse, maybe your point will get across better

Personally I'm disappointed that a thread about how wonderful the new mods are has descended into yet more talk about Rafa and rotation (already being fully explored in the correct section).

Get back to telling the mods how great we are or this thread gets locked.

:D

On returning after some tiome to discover that Woof Woof is now a MOD (God Help us) all I can say is that this place is going to the dogs ............. Get it , Dogs, Woof Woof ...
