Sami's still got a lot of quality. People keep banging on about the Porto lad doing him for pace the other night. Fact is Hyypia's going to be rusty as he hasn't played much recently. Yes the lad did him for pace, but with a few games under his belt and a bit of match sharpness, Hyypia would have snuffed out the danger before the lad even had a chance to do him for pace.
If Hyypia gets a run of games now with Agger out I predict he'll impress and what's more I'll also predict that when Agger's fit again there will be people on this site questioning whether Hyypia should keep his place.

But the season always brings a lot of matches and surprises and that's why we are well covered now. A team that wants to win everything like Liverpool can't afford to lose an Alonso and not having a Mascherano, or viceversa.
Anyhow, and despite I think it Hyypia can do the job (and even Arbeloa) another quality CB would have been handy for my taste.

but on the bright side it means no rotation in the back 4 for a few weeks and minimal rotation in the centre of midfield
I agree on we have a good cover on Mascherano. About being a better player, I'm not sure, it's a bit of deja vu, didn't you say that yesterday?

As soon as the cobwebs are brushed off he'll be as reliable as ever, a few games on the spin will do him or our team no harm atall.
