to be fair i am not too worried about alonso as we have cover there and in my opinion mash is the better player anyway, there is also momo as cover for that position, agger is more worrying as the chances are that arbeloa would have to cover in that position, but then we have no real cover for finnan. the left back position is ok, riise, aurelio and arbeloa can all play there, the right back is finnan and arbeloa so if we lose a center back and finnan we are fooked.

but on the bright side it means no rotation in the back 4 for a few weeks and minimal rotation in the centre of midfield

ciggy 6 weeks is the maximum, rooney was only out for 3 weeks, so with the right treatment it may not mean missing all those games

Having nightmares about Hyypia against Arsenal I like him but I never want to see him play against them ever again, he will get skinned alive, Carra isnt the quickest either, so against two pacy forwards the Blueshite Johnson and Yakubu we will have to be careful.

Just when it was going well.

Think rafa might play 3-2-3-2 formation against arsenal if agger can't make it.

                   Reina
        Finnan   Carra   Hyppia
   Arbeloa                         Riise/Auerlio
Mash   Alonso / Sissoko (if Alonso ain't fit)
                    Gerrard
                 Torres
                            Crouch
- Picking Crouch as arsenal will have problem defending against him.

Bad news for us

But if there was one player that could step up to the mark IMO it is Sami.

relax everyone... Aurelio's back so we have him and Riise for the LB position. Finnan has made RB his own so that means we can always play Arbeloa at centre back if we need pace in that position. Otherwise, Hyypia is a good enough replacement. :;):

I agree on we have a good cover on Mascherano. About being a better player, I'm not sure, it's a bit of deja vu, didn't you say that yesterday?

Alonso will be terribly missed our best play maker, he was missed against Porto, this will give us a chance to see what Lucas is all about got to get a game sometime.

We really should have bought a CD in the summer though, and not put all our eggs in one basket hoping we would get Heinze.

Thank god Palletta has left though.

Well, I guess we were overdue ne of these seasons. 04-05 was pretty rotten. I remember getting to an international break with only 10 fit first team players, and two of them were goalkeepers. Hopefully it won't be as bad as that this season.
Agger will be sorely missed. He and Carra were really starting to look like world beaters at the back, but weve got Sami (and Arbeloa if we need him) so hopefully we'll be ok. And Alonso was looking top draw, and he and stevie were back in the middle and looking fantastic. But we've got Momo, Javier and Lucas.
I think we might miss Xabi more though because his distribution and the way he complimented Stevie was making our middle dominant and our attack strong. Oh, well. Here's hoping they both come back stronger.

It's a blow, but we do have very good cover. In my opinion, Mash or Momo can step in anytime. We really do have the best midfield in the world.

It's in defence that's a little bit worrying. Like others said, we can play Hyppia or Arbeloa at CB, so we are hardly short on cover there. Only problem is at right back, where all we can do is do hope for a speedy recovery and no more injuries month ahead.

The modern dat football boots are a joke. I've never known of so many metatarsal injuries. Ten years ago, nobody could have told you what a metatarsal was.

I wonder if we'll see three at the back now?

If we have Sami and Carra then at least we have two recognised CBs with Arbeloa and Finnan as desperate last hopes if disaster strikes the other two. We'll perhaps have to hope Agger is back in time for Arsenal and Everton, if not then have Johnson man-marked. I am still amazed we sold Paletta and didn't replace him adequately, to add to all the rotation nonsense we're suffering injuries and this could be costly.

But we've yet to concede from open play this season, four penalties awarded against is a tad worrying though.
